Week One
30 in Competition

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Sol who speaks up first this time.

“Last night, Lune and I were finally able to get some answers. Or, at least, something we can do to help. The core’s still experiencing fluctuations and some instability, but we’ve figured out a place some of it might be coming from.”

They stop, excitedly holding up a scroll.

“This core is connected to several worlds out there. It’s the heart of the universe and everything that happens here can be affected by the outside, and can affect the worlds you come from. We found somewhere that seems to have a source of darkness lurking around…if we find it and clear the corruption, we can help stabilize the core a little more and help protect yourselves while you’re here.”

With that, they seem to lose steam just a little, looking back at Lune for a moment before nodding.

“So, uh…we were able to open a gateway for you to this world. Checking it out might help us pinpoint the source and get this done faster, so…leave whenever you’re ready. There’ll be another gate on the other side to bring you back here.”

That seems to be it, though Sol looks back to Lune again. “Anything else?”

"Look after one another," they repeat again. "And do not believe it is possible to be over-cautious."

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

In addition, as the week goes on, partners will find that a simple touch (even accidental) may incite the bond between them to grow stronger for a moment. They will experience a swap of memories through their connection, taking a moment to see a piece of their partner's past without any control over what exactly is being shared.

[Guess who's lingering way too long in the chapel? This roomba. Specifically, North will be examining the coffin. Checking out the keypad. Trying to pry the the lid open. The works. If someone else wanders into the room, she's going to glance over their way, before turning back to the coffin.]

Would you normally place a lock on something like this?

[Idly. The answer is obviously no, but.]

[Dressed in something a little cooler than her initial outfit (spoilers: it's shorts with a sweater), North can be primarily found wandering around the shore. With her feet in the water, she looks slightly more relaxed than she has in the past few days. Approach to figure out what she's up to? Or don't. Either option is valid. ]

[...Says the guy who's also sticking to the shore. He's ditched his shoes, at least, but otherwise hasn't changed his outfit.]

[She ain't ready to risk getting pulled in by a current, alas.]

And you? I take it you're here to enjoy the view.

I am, yes. I still prefer one or two of the other areas, but... sometimes listening to the water is nice, as well.

[It's less familiar in some ways, but there's something to be said for the breeze by the water and the soothing nature of it.]

Is it familiar? Or something unlike home?

Hmm... I don't think it's strange?

[ That doesn't answer North's question, and more or less just speaks to how strange Minato is that he so readily accepts the lock. Would he normally do this? Yeah. But the jury's still out for general "you" ]

[At this point, she's accepted that Minato will probably just nod and smile at anything that gets thrown his way? He'll just roll with it????]

I'm not familiar with all of humans' customs, but I haven't heard of that before, no.

[North, for her part, seems more than happy to slide her hand over the surface of the coffin. It seems relatively normal, but...]

Which makes me wonder— Is this meant to store a body at all?

What do you think it might store, in that case?

And neither would I. Which makes this pretty strange, doesn't it?

So far we haven't found much life besides ourselves.

Do you think somebody's trapped in there?

[ s'up. he'll give her a wave as he plops down by the shore to get his boots and socks off.

he's out of paper though so they will have to communicate through charades. ]

[S'up. North returns his wave with a nod, curt.]

Hey.

[He's obviously not human, sooooo... She doesn't mind having his company as much as she normally would.]

[ Once he's good, he'll step out into the water, staying close to the shallow part, but where he's seen fish. It's still cold and it makes the hair on his tail and arms stand up for a moment as he gets used to it.

No fish yet, so maybe they can make quiet conversation. Let's try to give her a gesture and a head tilt to ask what is she up to ]

Uh... No, and that makes me think we might want to leave. Like, now.

There is a difference between being scared and rightfully cautious.

Bashing its brains in would have been less of a hassle than locking it inside a coffin.
