Week One
30 in Competition

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Sol who speaks up first this time.

“Last night, Lune and I were finally able to get some answers. Or, at least, something we can do to help. The core’s still experiencing fluctuations and some instability, but we’ve figured out a place some of it might be coming from.”

They stop, excitedly holding up a scroll.

“This core is connected to several worlds out there. It’s the heart of the universe and everything that happens here can be affected by the outside, and can affect the worlds you come from. We found somewhere that seems to have a source of darkness lurking around…if we find it and clear the corruption, we can help stabilize the core a little more and help protect yourselves while you’re here.”

With that, they seem to lose steam just a little, looking back at Lune for a moment before nodding.

“So, uh…we were able to open a gateway for you to this world. Checking it out might help us pinpoint the source and get this done faster, so…leave whenever you’re ready. There’ll be another gate on the other side to bring you back here.”

That seems to be it, though Sol looks back to Lune again. “Anything else?”

"Look after one another," they repeat again. "And do not believe it is possible to be over-cautious."

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

In addition, as the week goes on, partners will find that a simple touch (even accidental) may incite the bond between them to grow stronger for a moment. They will experience a swap of memories through their connection, taking a moment to see a piece of their partner's past without any control over what exactly is being shared.

[ there's a tilt of his head. then he's just going to try to ask why with hand gestures and expressions.

maybe he'll realize there's crayons and paper around here eventually ]

[ don't make him say it... he's just going to wander the boutique in search of something that suits his needs a little better instead of answering because the longer he can avoid this, the better. ]

he will cross his arms and huff out an exasperated breath before following him. the guy did just lose a buddy...and also helped reveal that a kid was the killer. so he won't bitch too much.

he will mime sewing and then pointing at him. do you know how to even sew dude? ]

[ are you calling him out ]

I can't sew, if that's what you're asking.

[ but he has an idea who he can ask, if he needs to. that's better than nothing, right? ]

he'll point to himself and do the sewing thing again. he knows how.

then pointing to himself, then trying to mouth the word show, then pointing to kara.

he can show him if he really is determined to do it himself ]

[ kara mimics the mouth movement, trying to figure out what to say. he's not great at reading lips, unfortunately - having lips is still relatively new to him, after more than a few centuries without a body... so he has no idea what that word was supposed to be.

he'll just make a guess, then. ]

There's plenty around here. I'm sure you can find something to sew if you look around.

[ shaking his head. that's not what he meant.

then he'll point to kara's hand and then gesture for him to come. give him your hand ]

[ partner or not, there's no way ookurikara is willingly going to take his hand again. he's still embarrassed about having to dance together, so he just. crosses his arms and stares back at feral. ]

[papawolf]

[ huffing out a breath and then just holding out his hand. then he'll try to trace letters out in the air with his finger. he wants to try spelling things out by drawing letters on your hand, okay? ]

[ hm

no, not okay. he watches feral with a flat stare, not moving an inch.

translation: just find some fucking paper, my dude. ]

[ why are you this way.

fine. he'll huff out before stalking off to go look for paper. just going to be opening drawers and things loudly and closing them just as loud. ]

[ after a few minutes, he will find paper and colored pencils. there's a pause as he sees them because the last time he used them was during the trial.

...

moving on.

just going to write in the green one, ignoring the red one.

then he'll hold it up for him to see. ]

after taking a moment to read, he looks back up, unconvinced. ]

Why would I need to know?

[ he's just wrapping a sword. it can't be that hard, right? ]

[ if you told him, then he would be able to answer better. ]

[ he looks away then, frowning, but for once not at feral. ]

...I wanted to wrap the sword.

[ easier to carry, easier to store... and he wouldn't have to look at the broken pieces, even if he knows they'll be there. it's the only thing he can think to do with it. ]

[ this is the part thats odd. as much of a butt his... partner is, it's disconcerting to see him like this. being emo.

looking away for a moment before he just writes again. ]

I'll sew it then.

[ faster and easier that way then they won't have to be around each other for it. ]

[ it's not like they're friends. neither of them have even pretended to be friends this whole time. why would he want to help kara? ]

[ so you'll stop moping or whatever this is. ]

[ ookurikara looks like he doesn't want to accept at first. but since the other option is probably asking kaoru (that kid is A Lot), his shoulders sag a little, and he sighs. ]

Fine.

[ he's not going to offer any thanks, though. ]

[ it's fine. he wouldn't be able to handle being thanked by him.

okay. changing topic quick! ]

What else do you need?

okay. just going to look around before pulling some options. holding up a couple gold colored cords, while tilting his head. These? ]

[ he reaches out to touch the cord himself, debating the weight and aesthetics. is this what tsuru would like...?

eventually he'll give a shrug. it's not quite what he's looking for (even if he isn't sure what that is), but it could work in a pinch. ]
