week one: mingle

Week One
30 in Competition

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Sol who speaks up first this time.

“Last night, Lune and I were finally able to get some answers. Or, at least, something we can do to help. The core’s still experiencing fluctuations and some instability, but we’ve figured out a place some of it might be coming from.”

They stop, excitedly holding up a scroll.

“This core is connected to several worlds out there. It’s the heart of the universe and everything that happens here can be affected by the outside, and can affect the worlds you come from. We found somewhere that seems to have a source of darkness lurking around…if we find it and clear the corruption, we can help stabilize the core a little more and help protect yourselves while you’re here.”

With that, they seem to lose steam just a little, looking back at Lune for a moment before nodding.

“So, uh…we were able to open a gateway for you to this world. Checking it out might help us pinpoint the source and get this done faster, so…leave whenever you’re ready. There’ll be another gate on the other side to bring you back here.”

That seems to be it, though Sol looks back to Lune again. “Anything else?”

"Look after one another," they repeat again. "And do not believe it is possible to be over-cautious."

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

In addition, as the week goes on, partners will find that a simple touch (even accidental) may incite the bond between them to grow stronger for a moment. They will experience a swap of memories through their connection, taking a moment to see a piece of their partner's past without any control over what exactly is being shared.

Welcome to your week one mingle! Please note that as of this week, murder proposals are open. CYOA sign-ups are also live, and will close at Tuesday, 8 AM PST. They will be running on Tuesday afternoon and evening, so please be mindful of your own availability!

In addition, ensure that all of your week zero private conversations were reported on the page, and your week one private conversations are reported on that page. If you'll be taking anything from locations, please report that as well.

[ . . . hmmmm.]

Do you have a cup? It might not be immediate but given the temperature I'm sure it'll melt on its own...

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-11 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
[ Minato does in fact have his stolen coffee mug still. It has kind of a salty fishy smell to it, when he digs it out and silently hands it over. ]
coastal: (✧ that's strange)

[personal profile] coastal 2019-06-11 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
[well that sure does sound gross

but lili will eventually be able to create small pieces of ice, depositing them inside the coffee cup with little plinks]

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-11 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
[ It really needs to be water, not ice, so while Lili's busy making the ice, Minato sticks a finger inside the cup and stirs the chips around a little. Come on, melt faster, there's a dead man dying in here. ]
coastal: (✧ so this was a bad idea)

[personal profile] coastal 2019-06-11 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
[she

kind of hopes that minato washed his hand at some point recently???]

It would've been to convenient for you to have fire, wouldn't it....

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-11 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
[ He might have gotten his hands wet washing his face this morning?? It's fine. ]

It really would.

[ Does he have fire? Whatever magic he has, he hasn't bothered to practice it, and this is his favorite coffee mug so he doesn't want anything to explode. ]
coastal: (✧ pokes a squirrel)

[personal profile] coastal 2019-06-12 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[why does your favorite coffee mug still smell, minato

anyway lili is just going to frown and focus more on the task at hand - making more ice appear until it's about halfway got the mug filled]

There - is it melting? Should I find a candle?

[she'll try ANYTHING]

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-12 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[ It's serving its purpose. ]

It's sort of melting... Why don't you focus on the ice, since you're the only one that can do that job. Leave melting to me.

[ By which he means he's going to lean forward and breathe on the cup. ]
coastal: (✧ fCKIN GROSS)

[personal profile] coastal 2019-06-13 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
... please don't say something like that and then follow it with something super uncool.

[but she'll just

keep going she supposes]

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-13 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
[ mind your own business, Lili ]

Being uncool is the point. I'm trying to warm it.
coastal: (✧ pokes a squirrel)

[personal profile] coastal 2019-06-13 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
[ . . .

she stares at him

while the ice continues to drop in little plink plink plinks]

... a joke...?

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-13 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
[ ... ]

Was it funny?

[ He can only tell bad jokes, it was warned for on his profile and so nobody can complain. ]
coastal: (✧ that's strange)

[personal profile] coastal 2019-06-13 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Not really.

Your delivery needs work.

[or like

the content but]

I couldn't tell it was a joke.

[lili also has a horrible sense of humor]

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-13 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[ No..... Minato's had like five conversations in Rec already about this and he's never found a way to fix it. ]

Would it help if I gave you a hand signal to identify when it's a joke?

[ That's also a joke. But he's also serious. Minato operates off Schrödinger's jokes: it's a joke only when it's funny, otherwise it's not. ]
coastal: (✧ pokes a squirrel)

[personal profile] coastal 2019-06-13 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[well.]

It might.

[lili doesn't think it's a joking? she's bad with people, she's fine with dealing with signals if minato wants]

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-13 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Alright.

[ He gives Lili a thumbs up. ]

This will be your cue to laugh.
coastal: (✧ die immediately right now)

[personal profile] coastal 2019-06-13 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
No, you're expecting too much.

[she never said she'd laugh]

I'll at least know you tried.

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-13 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm always trying.....

[ He's always doing his best, give him some credit??? ]
coastal: (✧ tsuntsuntsun)

[personal profile] coastal 2019-06-13 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[er - ]

To make a joke I mean. Don't look so disheartened...

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-13 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
[ ): ]

I was trying my best on the jokes, too...
coastal: (✧ WHY THIS)

[personal profile] coastal 2019-06-13 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[fslkjdfdsf fuck]

I-It'll just be easier to get across this way! That's the whole point of looking for a way to improve!

[STOP BEING SAD, WHAT IS SHE SUPPOSED TO DO]

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-13 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[ maybe stop making him sad ))): ]

I see... I'll take your advice into consideration. But... it'd be encouraging if you laughed.
coastal: (✧ hmph! what a nerd)

[personal profile] coastal 2019-06-13 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[stop, she's so bad at this]

... I can... try...

But I don't want to be deceitful and laugh when I don't feel it.

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-13 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[ you reap what you sow ]

A joke, then. Here's a classic: Why did the chicken cross the road?
coastal: (✧ woooow you're cute huh)

[personal profile] coastal 2019-06-14 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
[oh god she can feel the pressure]

... why....
