week one: mingle
Week One
30 in Competition
30 in Competition
As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.
Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.
As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Sol who speaks up first this time.
“Last night, Lune and I were finally able to get some answers. Or, at least, something we can do to help. The core’s still experiencing fluctuations and some instability, but we’ve figured out a place some of it might be coming from.”
They stop, excitedly holding up a scroll.
“This core is connected to several worlds out there. It’s the heart of the universe and everything that happens here can be affected by the outside, and can affect the worlds you come from. We found somewhere that seems to have a source of darkness lurking around…if we find it and clear the corruption, we can help stabilize the core a little more and help protect yourselves while you’re here.”
With that, they seem to lose steam just a little, looking back at Lune for a moment before nodding.
“So, uh…we were able to open a gateway for you to this world. Checking it out might help us pinpoint the source and get this done faster, so…leave whenever you’re ready. There’ll be another gate on the other side to bring you back here.”
That seems to be it, though Sol looks back to Lune again. “Anything else?”
"Look after one another," they repeat again. "And do not believe it is possible to be over-cautious."
The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.
In addition, as the week goes on, partners will find that a simple touch (even accidental) may incite the bond between them to grow stronger for a moment. They will experience a swap of memories through their connection, taking a moment to see a piece of their partner's past without any control over what exactly is being shared.

Welcome to your week one mingle! Please note that as of this week, murder proposals are open. CYOA sign-ups are also live, and will close at Tuesday, 8 AM PST. They will be running on Tuesday afternoon and evening, so please be mindful of your own availability!
In addition, ensure that all of your week zero private conversations were reported on the page, and your week one private conversations are reported on that page. If you'll be taking anything from locations, please report that as well.

[Well this sure is something.
Specifically the coffin that Nana is leaning over, humming all the while as she gives it an inspection. To anyone who might be around:]
Ah, it seems a friend is trapped in there. I hope they're not too uncomfortable...
[And she is going to just casually tap out the notes of a song on the top of it, wondering if she'll get an answer in return. Maybe they know "Starlight"? Or "Smooth Criminal".]
II. Fire
[So here is one Daiba Nana, not actually in the fire area, but instead headed on her way back to the village proper with her head held low. For such a cheery girl, it's an odd look for her, even more so when her expression seems to be wincing from pain.
Though upon closer inspection you might, see, uh--
Singed hair at the very bottom of her banana bangs.
... Yeah.
She looks as guilty as she sounds]
... Do you think this place has a pair of scissors?
[no one tell Junna for god's sake]
III. Boutique
[Y'know what's an improvement to all of this crazy darkness nonsense?
Animal hoodies.
Animal hoodies for all.
Which means that any unsuspecting character who wanders into the boutique will be jumped by both Nana and Miki, with the former wearing a large smile as she hums and rocks on her heels]
Quick question. What's your favorite animal?
[Choose wisely, friends.]
IV. Wildcard
[ooc: GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME]
[ooc the second: The third prompt will feature Miki and Nana, so going in a Nana --> Miki --> Your Character order /o/ For fussy characters, I'll just RNG an animal 🙃🙃🙃 You're welcome.]
ii
What did you do?
no subject
[STILL MANAGING TO SOUND CHEERY.
Also pulling lightly at the bottom of her bangs, which are singed but thankfully nothing that some upkeep won't fix]
It turns out getting close to fire is an unwise idea, no matter what your abilities are.

[A sigh. She hangs her head a little]
Apparently I'll need a lot more at this rate.

Fruit bats.

Fruit bat, hm...
[Looking to Miki]
Think we can find anything that fits?
no subject
Give me a minute.
[ It takes a bit longer than a minute, but when she returns she's holding this... thing. ]
Bats aren't the most popular kind of hoodie, unfortunately.

[Which is why Emma's glancing at her with a little more scrutiny, until she notices her hair.]
—Are you hurt anywhere? What happened?
no subject
[Hence the, uh, singed bangs. Though after her bout of guilt, she cheers up quickly with a shrug]
I'm not hurt! But a few people might be cross if they find out what happened.
no subject
You know how to cut your own hair, right?

ii
... What happened to your head?
[ gems don't exactly get burned... ]
no subject
Nana nearly reaches over to check their temperature in jest, except that would lead to chaos, surely.]
A little burn. I was practicing my magic and it didn't... go quite as planned.
[SHE IS NOT GONNA MENTION THE BURN ON HER THIGH bc Nana is no fool, okay]
no subject
Oh. So you're with Fire, then.
[ some people have been acting like it's a big secret, but Cinnabar doesn't really feel that way. ]
Don't get yourself killed. [ beat. ] Will it get better?

Koromaru.
no subject
Ah... I see.
[Tapping at her chin]
Are you familiar with that one, Miki-chan?
no subject
No. I've never heard of a Koromaru before.
[ She's just staring at Minato. Explain. ]

[ guess who's BEING DIFFICULT ]
no subject
Well in that case...
We'll just have to pick one out for you.
[LOOKING TO MIKI]
Any ideas?
no subject
I guess we could try something kinda unique? Hold on--
[ She's running off for a moment and almost worryingly quickly, she comes back with this delight. ]
Something like this.

I doubt that will help the situation.

[Especially since their "friend" knocks back? Weird.]
Do you know morse code by any chance, sir?
no subject
[ because it sounds more like a song to him.... maybe it's just catchy morse code. ]

Not sure?
[ why would he have a personal preference for something like this. how would he actually know what his favorite animal is. help. ]

[S M I L I N G and then turning to Miki with a impish look]
We'll be more than happy to help you pick.
