week one: mingle

Week One
30 in Competition

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Sol who speaks up first this time.

“Last night, Lune and I were finally able to get some answers. Or, at least, something we can do to help. The core’s still experiencing fluctuations and some instability, but we’ve figured out a place some of it might be coming from.”

They stop, excitedly holding up a scroll.

“This core is connected to several worlds out there. It’s the heart of the universe and everything that happens here can be affected by the outside, and can affect the worlds you come from. We found somewhere that seems to have a source of darkness lurking around…if we find it and clear the corruption, we can help stabilize the core a little more and help protect yourselves while you’re here.”

With that, they seem to lose steam just a little, looking back at Lune for a moment before nodding.

“So, uh…we were able to open a gateway for you to this world. Checking it out might help us pinpoint the source and get this done faster, so…leave whenever you’re ready. There’ll be another gate on the other side to bring you back here.”

That seems to be it, though Sol looks back to Lune again. “Anything else?”

"Look after one another," they repeat again. "And do not believe it is possible to be over-cautious."

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

In addition, as the week goes on, partners will find that a simple touch (even accidental) may incite the bond between them to grow stronger for a moment. They will experience a swap of memories through their connection, taking a moment to see a piece of their partner's past without any control over what exactly is being shared.

Welcome to your week one mingle! Please note that as of this week, murder proposals are open. CYOA sign-ups are also live, and will close at Tuesday, 8 AM PST. They will be running on Tuesday afternoon and evening, so please be mindful of your own availability!

In addition, ensure that all of your week zero private conversations were reported on the page, and your week one private conversations are reported on that page. If you'll be taking anything from locations, please report that as well.

[Grim Eyes doesn't look very good. She looks like she had a very rough night, and is in a spectacularly bad mood. Anyone who approaches gets glared at for a moment while she's at the shrine, then she sighs, shaking her head. Not this person's fault. She even mumbles an apology.

In her hands there's a spear, an old and intrincate tribal spear. She's staring at it. Finally she asks:]

You got an object when you arrived to those houses. Is it an important item to you?

[She can't stay at the shrine angry forever, so after a while she goes to the new location. Exploration time! It's...a rather unusual place, especially when she gets to the casino. There's Grim Eyes, examining one of the slot machines. She has never seen anything like it before]

What's this supposed to be? You think we can break it apart?

[Because nothing educates about something's purpose like breaking it]

[ It's still early morning when Minato arrives at the shrine, breathless and looking exhausted and almost misses the glare because the first thing he does is find water to splash on his face. ]

Object... I should probably bring that with me, huh? I guess it's pretty important...? Got it from a friend, and we've been through a lot together.

[ He is, of course, talking about his nailbat. ]

[personal profile] liversandhyenas 2019-06-11 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
So it was also a gift from someone you know. Nice. [She blinks, a bit unsure, but asks regardless:] Did you dream about that person?

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-11 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[ He has to wonder how everybody's items were all connected, but has since stopped trying to guess. Maybe they were all gifts? Some people don't have anything, though. Xion has a stick. ]

Hmm... Sometimes I do, but not very often. If she needs me for something, she usually just calls.

[Grim Eyes nods. Looks like that answer told her a lot. Still, without breaking a stride, she comments]

You say that as if she really can talk to you in your dreams.

[Like that's really so impossible, Grim Eyes]

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-12 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah.

[ Yeah she can? People talk in dreams— doesn't necessarily mean they're the actual person speaking to him, but in this case... ]

Is there a reason why you ask?

[He nods when she mentions the object. For whatever reason they've given him an empty prinny.

But he shakes his head when she asks if it's important.]

I wouldn't say its important. It's just a reminder of my work.
liversandhyenas: 4 (4)

[personal profile] liversandhyenas 2019-06-12 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
Really? Must be a pretty boring job if it's not important.

[Which she can understand. Not everyone is attached to their jobs]
omegathree: (05)

[personal profile] omegathree 2019-06-12 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
There's no soul in it, so it's more like an accessory to my job than anything else.

What made you ask?
liversandhyenas: 8 (8)

[personal profile] liversandhyenas 2019-06-12 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
...wait, whatever object you received usually has a soul in it? Is someone usually trapped in it?

[She doesn't seem very weirded out about that thought]

Last night I had a dream. I thought it could be related to the item, but I guess it wasn't, if your object was about your job instead of about some person.
omegathree: (05)

[personal profile] omegathree 2019-06-12 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
It's a temporary vessel for human sinners.

[Moving right along.]

Would you like to talk about what was in that dream?

[ It takes a moment of clear deliberation, but he does end up slipping a silver savonnette with a finely engraved pattern of clockwork gears on its cover out of a pocket to display, however briefly.
