week one: mingle
Week One
30 in Competition
30 in Competition
As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.
Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.
As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Sol who speaks up first this time.
“Last night, Lune and I were finally able to get some answers. Or, at least, something we can do to help. The core’s still experiencing fluctuations and some instability, but we’ve figured out a place some of it might be coming from.”
They stop, excitedly holding up a scroll.
“This core is connected to several worlds out there. It’s the heart of the universe and everything that happens here can be affected by the outside, and can affect the worlds you come from. We found somewhere that seems to have a source of darkness lurking around…if we find it and clear the corruption, we can help stabilize the core a little more and help protect yourselves while you’re here.”
With that, they seem to lose steam just a little, looking back at Lune for a moment before nodding.
“So, uh…we were able to open a gateway for you to this world. Checking it out might help us pinpoint the source and get this done faster, so…leave whenever you’re ready. There’ll be another gate on the other side to bring you back here.”
That seems to be it, though Sol looks back to Lune again. “Anything else?”
"Look after one another," they repeat again. "And do not believe it is possible to be over-cautious."
The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.
In addition, as the week goes on, partners will find that a simple touch (even accidental) may incite the bond between them to grow stronger for a moment. They will experience a swap of memories through their connection, taking a moment to see a piece of their partner's past without any control over what exactly is being shared.

Welcome to your week one mingle! Please note that as of this week, murder proposals are open. CYOA sign-ups are also live, and will close at Tuesday, 8 AM PST. They will be running on Tuesday afternoon and evening, so please be mindful of your own availability!
In addition, ensure that all of your week zero private conversations were reported on the page, and your week one private conversations are reported on that page. If you'll be taking anything from locations, please report that as well.

In her hands there's a spear, an old and intrincate tribal spear. She's staring at it. Finally she asks:]
You got an object when you arrived to those houses. Is it an important item to you?
[She can't stay at the shrine angry forever, so after a while she goes to the new location. Exploration time! It's...a rather unusual place, especially when she gets to the casino. There's Grim Eyes, examining one of the slot machines. She has never seen anything like it before]
What's this supposed to be? You think we can break it apart?
[Because nothing educates about something's purpose like breaking it]
shrine
Object... I should probably bring that with me, huh? I guess it's pretty important...? Got it from a friend, and we've been through a lot together.
[ He is, of course, talking about his nailbat. ]

Hmm... Sometimes I do, but not very often. If she needs me for something, she usually just calls.
no subject
You say that as if she really can talk to you in your dreams.
[Like that's really so impossible, Grim Eyes]
no subject
[ Yeah she can? People talk in dreams— doesn't necessarily mean they're the actual person speaking to him, but in this case... ]
Is there a reason why you ask?

But he shakes his head when she asks if it's important.]
I wouldn't say its important. It's just a reminder of my work.
no subject
[Which she can understand. Not everyone is attached to their jobs]
no subject
What made you ask?
no subject
[She doesn't seem very weirded out about that thought]
Last night I had a dream. I thought it could be related to the item, but I guess it wasn't, if your object was about your job instead of about some person.
no subject
[Moving right along.]
Would you like to talk about what was in that dream?

I suppose it is.

[She's trying to find a pattern, pretty much]

[That seems far more mundane and less we-will-mess-your-minds-up than she expected. She's not sure if she's relieved or disappointed]

Yes.
[ that's it that's the tag
no but seriously, okay, the shrine puts him ill at ease not just because of the sneaking serene feelings that creep up on anyone present, so of course the glare momentarily puts him off for the initial response. after a moment he'll allow that both of them might be a little on edge, and eventually continues. ]
... Normally I'd have two, though. On my person. But they were both gone when I arrived, and I only found one when I searched the houses.
no subject
Really? What kind of object is it?
[That's new. She hadn't heard of one of the belongings being incomplete]
no subject
[ It takes a moment of clear deliberation, but he does end up slipping a silver savonnette with a finely engraved pattern of clockwork gears on its cover out of a pocket to display, however briefly.
It's clearly well-maintained. ]
There should have been another. A pair. Golden in hue to this one's silver.
no subject
Those two must have it.
[Sol and Lune, for nefarious purposes]
Don't count on getting it back, though.
no subject
[ that he shouldn't count on getting anything back, that is, even if he seems fairly dissatisfied by the thought. but little point in dwelling on something he can't do much about, so- ]

[She manages to drag the slot machine so it falls down onto the floor. There's not even a dent on it -- pretty sturdy thing, this one -- so she pushes it near Swift Wind]
