Week Three

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Lune who speaks up first this time.

"Good morning, good morning. You've done well to purge the corruption in the previous gateway - allow us to assist with the finishing touches. For the time being, it would appear as though we've been able to locate another. I wonder if you'll find the skyline familiar? Do try to be kind to those you find on the other side."

When Lune finishes, Sol chimes in from their place at Lune's side.

"You guys did great minimizing the damage and working together...so keep it up."

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

In addition, as the week goes on, partners will begin to experience the emotions of one another. The clarity of these emotions enhances with proximity, and they will be able to feel the emotions of their partner's intermingling with their own.

[ Early Monday morning when people leave to the hall, everyone will find a slip of notebook paper tacked to their door, inviting them to the amphitheater around noon for lunch. It is, in fact, the cooking competition held between Akane and Minato, where each have been given one week to learn how to cook, from whoever they choose to learn from, but must cook the dishes on their own for the competition.

On Minato's side, he has... various options. Maybe one of them looks more edible than the other, or maybe you're adventurous and would try a bite of each. Today's menu is:

- fish fillet with herb and pear sauce that I just today learned is a real thing. The taste is surprisingly okay, a little bland, and the bones have been left inside the fish. The scales have been removed, though! They sit on the side of the plate in case you want to grab some to sprinkle on top for extra texture.
- sardines so raw, they're still alive, swimming around inside a clear glass water pitcher. Either they're for eating, or it's meant to be a centerpiece like how some fancy restaurant have fish tanks, it's not clear.
- a salad with greens, tomatoes, slivered apples, and presumably edible flowers. Today I learned that this exists too. It's a very pretty salad! The flowers may or may not be edible, though, and no dressing or vinaigrette are provided.
- miscellaneous soup... this is just soup with random stuff thrown into it, whatever vegetables (minus eggplants) that were sitting in the fridge regardless of whether they're meant for soup, a pinch of one of each available spice in the cupboards that Minato has no idea what they taste like, and a couple of flowers sprinkled on top for color. Individual ingredients are edible but flavor-wise... Don't eat this one.
- Mabo curry(?). This one actually tastes pretty okay, having been made following a non-Shirasu recipe. It's mabo tofu with curry powder thrown into it, except. There is no rice. You just sort of have to eat it by itself.
- Minato announces this one as "milkshakes" but it looks like ice cream mochi. That's because it's ice cream mochi. The mochi is soft and chewy and delicious, and ice cream is ice cream and is also delicious. They're plainly shaped mochi instead of cute animal ones, but these are good.
- flower tea, if boiled water with flower petals scattered in it counts as tea. It probably won't kill you if you drink it, but perhaps it's best to just grab a cup and leave it on the side for smelling, not drinking
- and of course, fish blood tofu pudding, in case you didn't get the chance to try it last time. Emma.

Please, help yourself. Minato really wants to win this, look at all the effort he puts into things when they don't involve trial. ]

[ she's. she's going to play this safe and just take one of the milkshake mochi. but hey, you went all out didn't you minato? ]

i. fire area;

[ anyone going to the fire training area in the volcano this week will find quite the show happening, as it looks like lea has decided to practice in the most show-offy way possible.

wearing leather gloves for safety precautions, you might find him twirling around, throwing and catching some plain looking chakrams that are On Fire, or juggling some spike balls On Fire, or even baton playing with a large stick ... where the tips of it are On Fire. that one won't last so long.

all in all, it looks a lot more like he's practicing being a fire dancer than he is fighting. please clap.

when he notices someone watching, he'll stop and greet them with a casual salute: ]

ii. gateway to hell;

[ not too long after the gateway is open, axel can be found standing in front of the inn, staring straight at the motorcycle. when he's caught, all he does is grin the fakest innocent grin that's ever been faked ]

... How hard do you think it is to learn how to ride this thing?

[ or, you can find him tucked in a corner of the library, reading what looks like a ...

wait a minute.

is that a self-help book on relationships?

he seems engrossed in it and won't notice anyone watching him, though the frown on his face as he reads implies he might not entirely agree with what he's reading.

axel literally throws the book behind him. it hits the wall because he's in a corner and bounces back in plain view. ]

[Val picks it up and looks it over now that it's not in Lea's hands.]

[ miki's just. at the hot springs. her shoes are placed neatly next to her, with her socks rolled and tucked into them. she's just lying on the ground with her legs in the water, eyes closed.

she relax. ]

ii.

[ later on, miki's in the boutique. there are one or two outfits that have been removed from the racks, and set to one side - notably a big, cosy looking dark hoodie and some boots - but she's actually in the creating section of the store, where all the fabrics, scissors and threads are.

she's got what looks like a small case and a selection of needles and threads spread out around her. she keeps picking up different threads, and tugging them taut. apparently checking for something, but whatever it is, it isn't immediately clear. ]

iii.

[ once the gateway is open, miki heads out there to explore the area somewhat. and, wow, none of this is nice? this is bad actually.

especially when she goes to the park-cemetery. after a good few minutes of dodging hands grabbing at her out of the ground, she eventually scrambles up onto one of the tall graves and perches on top of there. this, uh. feels familiar to last week. ]

I... I don't think I can get down without being grabbed at?

[It may not be nice for the majority of people here, but at the same time. The doom and gloom of a very sketchy graveyard feels familiar to Val. At least these skeletons are nothing more than that.]

[ he's. going to die. he's literally doing that thing where you kind of slide slowly on a surface to try and hide yourself but it's not use. he's six feet tall with bright red hair. he can never hide his shame. ]
