week five: mingle

Week Five
22 in Competition

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Lune who speaks up first this time.

"Good morning, good morning. You've done well to purge the corruption in the previous gateway - allow us to assist with the finishing touches. For the time being, it would appear as though we've been able to locate another. I would not grow complacent, but I also wonder if you all might enjoy the surprise."

When Lune finishes, Sol chimes in from their place at Lune's side.

"Maybe we can have another week like the last. It'd be nice, wouldn't it? Good luck out there."

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

In addition, as the week goes on, partners will begin to see odd mirages and hear voices calling for them. Even though they might not realize it, these phantoms that will be haunting them will be their partner's most important person, calling for them to come home. Partners will only be able to see each other's illusions if they make physical contact.

Welcome to your week five mingle! As a reminder, murder proposals are open. We will also be having another CYOA this week! Sign ups are here and will close on Tuesday at 8 AM PST.

In addition, ensure that all of your week four private conversations were reported on the page. If you'll be taking anything from locations, please report that as well.

What kind of person would wear it everyday, I wonder...

[ It's very... extra. Not practical. ]

[personal profile] stillstands 2019-07-11 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Someone with a job where they have to be flashy, maybe?

[ They are at the circus! ]
forefall: (o heavens!)

[personal profile] forefall 2019-07-11 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Wouldn't that be a silly job?

[ .... but yeah, they are at the circus. ]

I suppose that fits the atmosphere of this place.

[personal profile] stillstands 2019-07-11 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
It might depend on how you see your job personally. But a ringmaster might suit this kind of thing.
forefall: (your pale forehead)

[ me, wondering if a circus has ever existed in dod3: yoko taro please don't @ me ]

I suppose they would have to look ostentatious to lead a circus. Then, I imagine they would want something even flashier?

[personal profile] stillstands 2019-07-11 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[ this is exactly the sort of thing he will have thought through and be able to answer, let's be honest. ]

Yeah, I imagine them with a really tall top hat? And probably some kind of flashy suit as well. They're there to draw attention, so an over the top costume would help.
forefall: (but is it not enough)

[personal profile] forefall 2019-07-11 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[ he's going to go on twitter someday, circuses are FAKE ]

I don't think that's a job I could ever do. Could you?
stillstands: (44)

[personal profile] stillstands 2019-07-12 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[ yoko taro circus conspiracy theory, start! ]

Probably not. I'm... not really an entertainer sort of person.
forefall: (turning here and there)

[personal profile] forefall 2019-07-12 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I couldn't be that kind of flashy person. I may have been placed in a position to lead, but it could never be in that way.
stillstands: (54)

[personal profile] stillstands 2019-07-13 09:12 am (UTC)(link)
Leadership positions are usually better if they’re reliable rather than flashy, though. And definitely wouldn’t require a top hat.

[ . . . ]

You’re a leader, though? Of what?
forefall: (that you are a semblance)

[personal profile] forefall 2019-07-16 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
I'm a leader of a country. My sisters and I are in charge of a collection of countries.

[ With varying degrees of success. ]

[ ... ... ... ]

Huh.

You only look around my age, but you've got such a big responsibility on your shoulders.

[ That's impressive? ]
forefall: (where the torches of evening kindle a da)

[personal profile] forefall 2019-07-17 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
It was my sister's goal, but it was much better than leaving the continent in the hand of tyrants.

[ Is it impressive if you have cheating powers usually? ]
stillstands: (78)

[personal profile] stillstands 2019-07-17 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
...

[ WAS IT THOUGH. ] That does sound like a better idea than having tyrants in charge, yes.

Your sister arranged everything?
forefall: (turning here and there)

[personal profile] forefall 2019-07-18 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know if arranged is the right word. It became a little complicated.

[ Is anything in the Drakengard universe straightforward? ]

We worked together so all the despotic lords that were in charge got replaced.
stillstands: (4)

[personal profile] stillstands 2019-07-18 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[ That's fair. ]

...

That's... [ A lot. ] It was bad before, I take it.
forefall: (embellished with a morbid charm)

[personal profile] forefall 2019-07-19 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
One of the lords took children from their parents. We couldn't let that keep happening. We couldn't stand by.

[ Her voice is firm. It was awful, and letting it get worse was out of the question. ]
stillstands: (17)

[personal profile] stillstands 2019-07-19 03:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[ ... ]

Yeah. That would be something that would require action. We have a police system, but I guess if you have lords and despots our times are significantly different...

[ Clothing styles aside. ]
forefall: (o heavens!)

[personal profile] forefall 2019-07-19 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Police?

[ noooo recognition ]
stillstands: (58)

[personal profile] stillstands 2019-07-21 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Mhm. Law enforcement -- a group of people specifically trained to uphold and enforce the law, within reason.

[personal profile] forefall 2019-07-22 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
... Should we have the police here?

[ Or are they the police with use of the trials? ]
stillstands: (75)

[personal profile] stillstands 2019-07-22 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
... Well, maybe? I don't know how this world works. Kidnapping wouldn't have gone done well with a police force, unless they were bought off.

Otherwise we'd have to be the police force, which might be counter-productive.
forefall: (turning here and there)

[personal profile] forefall 2019-07-23 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
Why would it be counter productive? I don't think this world has set rules outside of... the darkness that falls and the trial that comes after.

Because it depends on what everyone wants, and someone enforcing one view over another could cause problems within the group. Or if someone in the force got corrupted, that could make things worse too.
