week five: mingle

Week Five
22 in Competition

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Lune who speaks up first this time.

"Good morning, good morning. You've done well to purge the corruption in the previous gateway - allow us to assist with the finishing touches. For the time being, it would appear as though we've been able to locate another. I would not grow complacent, but I also wonder if you all might enjoy the surprise."

When Lune finishes, Sol chimes in from their place at Lune's side.

"Maybe we can have another week like the last. It'd be nice, wouldn't it? Good luck out there."

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

In addition, as the week goes on, partners will begin to see odd mirages and hear voices calling for them. Even though they might not realize it, these phantoms that will be haunting them will be their partner's most important person, calling for them to come home. Partners will only be able to see each other's illusions if they make physical contact.

Welcome to your week five mingle! As a reminder, murder proposals are open. We will also be having another CYOA this week! Sign ups are here and will close on Tuesday at 8 AM PST.

In addition, ensure that all of your week four private conversations were reported on the page. If you'll be taking anything from locations, please report that as well.

[ Oh... heck, they're cute. ]

Huh... Rats tend to know the area they live pretty well. Maybe it's something like that.

[ Minato turns his attention back to the ground below through the glass walls, everything getting even smaller the higher they are. ]

Is this your first time flying?

[Huh. That makes sense. Maybe there's something in the concept of sending flying rats around, she figures]

Guess being in high places doesn't count, so yes. How does this thing even work?

It's sort of...

[ He wants to say "magic" and be done with it, but it's more... "science" than magic. And he can't really science. ]

It's sort of like a larger version of those balloons out there. [ He points to the ones tied up all around the place ] The helium inside is lighter than normal air, so it floats. Popping it is pretty scary, though. If it catches on fire, it'll explode, too.

Let me see if I got this straight: you guys make a vehicle that not only carries you very high and can pop, but also explode.

[...]

Why do all your inventions have to be stupidly dangerous?

[Humans and their shenanigans, serously]

Haha, yeah.

[ Yeah...... ]

They try to make it as safe as possible, but sometimes it's hard. Lots of things are dangerous... but if they're used carefully, and properly, they're very safe.
