Week Five: Trial

It may be difficult to sleep with the light shining so brightly throughout the night, but the participants can rest easy knowing they will not be plagued by unwanted, disturbing dreams. Early the next day, a bell chimes and all will feel compelled to enter the main meeting hall.

The hall looks mostly the same as it always has, the two thrones for Lune and Sol at the head of the room and scrolls hanging from the walls. The metal box sits on a table near the front, along with the glass boxes perfectly centered before the benches in the room. Now that the trial is in session, Shirasu, Lili, Miki and Minato's coffins are open, and their bodies will be available for examination.

Lune and Sol are seated in their thrones, patiently waiting for the last participant to settle. It's only when everyone has gathered that Sol speaks first.

"Nine hours. Don't forget."

They stop, glancing at Lune and gesturing for them to say their piece.

"Face the truth directly, and don't turn away from what you may find."

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the fifth trial!

We'll go over a few notes briefly as we will be playing this trial a bit differently than other games.

As noted, there was no investigation period on Friday. However, today participants will have the chance to investigate areas in the game setting as they see fit! This can be done by providing the name of the location you want to visit to the host header comment. To help with the ease of the trial and for IC mechanics, only one location may be visited at a time. In addition, these locations can be manipulated and adjusted upon request to test theories and solve puzzles, so please feel free to ask if you're searching for clues! Your host will also be accompanying you on these visits.

Most importantly, before the trial is over, please place your character's vote over on the voting page. Voting will close at 9pm EST/6pm PST, and will serve as our activity check for the week, so please be sure you get your vote in before it ends unless you have contacted us previously.

AIRSHIP

[cyclists]

[Sol turns and heads out of the meeting hall toward the gateway opening, the sun still high in the sky. Though as they enter the edge of it, they will raise a hand from their robe, two fingers extended. The tips of them glow with a dark fire, and Sol will move their hands in a counter-clockwise circle. It's a bit clumsier than Lune's movements in weeks prior, but it seems to have the desired effect.

As they do this, the area in front of them will seem to rewind. They'll watch the color of the sky change from bright and then return to the darkness that cased over everything on Thursday evening.

A glance back to their exploring party and Sol will incline their head to gesture forward:]

Watch your step.

[A good bit of advice, really, given that they'll enter the gateway near the airship and find the ground littered in debris and no airship. Have fun.]

[You know what, he should've expected this. He should've known this is what he'd look at. And yet he was still hoping there would be parts of the airship left.

He'll kneel to the ground and look at some of the debris. Do they look like airship debris? Like they're part of an explosion?]

[whitewalls]

[ oh

yikes

she'll do the same as val, but walking a little further out so that she's not just looking in the same exact place as he is. ]

This is...

[ What do you even look for when the scene is like this?

Are there any traces of, like... The sheep thing that was in the area during the week...? ]

[cyclists]

[Val will find that it's a lot of debris from the airship, yeah. It exploded, so think burnt and melted pieces of metal and etc. The sheep is no more. Things look pretty scattered and no matter which direction the three of them look it seems to spread out that way.

However, as Naminé wanders out a little further she'll also find...bits...of...burnt...flesh...it's bloody and too small to tell what it used to be, but it seems to be leading in a small trail somewhere, bits every couple of feet in a disorganized pattern. There's also scraps of fabric and some glitter mixed in. Haha.]

It definitely exploded.

[Anyway to tell what might have caused the explosion?]

Have you found anything?

Um... yes.

[ AAAHHHHHH MINATO WHY

she's going to start following?? the trail??? ]

There's some fabric there. Can someone look at it?

[ Since there's no traces of the sheep, Akane will take over looking at the fabric duty... Is this familiar fabric? ]

[cyclists]

[That's a bad idea!! Anyway, no, the explosion is just an explosion. So everything is burned, etc.

Akane will maybe find the fabric familiar though because it seems to match Minato's pajamas that he's worn in his time here.

They should maybe explore the area a little more, because right now Naminé's the only one going anywhere and she'll find that the bits are leading toward the exit of the gateway.

She'll also step on a fingertip.]

[Okay, Val will be going to explore. If there's a center of this explosion, he'd like to find it.

Now Namine has the red wagon to put the body bits in.]

[ oh. well

I GUESS SHE'S PICKING UP BODY PIECES TO PUT IN A WAGON!!! COOL!!! THE FINGER SHE JUST STEPPED ON IS GOING IN THERE NOW!!!!! THAT WASN'T STARTLING OR ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!

but she'll go to see if there's anything near the gateway exit WITH HER WAGON FULL OF BURNT FLESH PIECES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ]

[ Unlike Namine gathering body parts, Akane isn't going to hold onto what she finds, so she just drops the fabric she'd been looking at and moves on.

Hmm. Is there anything in the loading/boarding area, maybe? ]

[cyclists]

[Well. It's an explosion. There's really no center to it, so Val will continue to find that the site of impact is pretty large and spread out. Debris is everywhere. He will also find what looks like a cat-earred headband that's soft and furry and covered in ash...but mostly unburned.

Naminé will continue on body quest, picking things up. As she heads closer to the exit...she'll also feel a pair of eyes on her. Sorry, did I say pair? I mean eye. One single gray eyeball is lingering right near the exit, leading out to somewhere else.

As for Akane, as she looks around, she'll find what appears to be a hunk of melted metal, though it's vaguely gun-shaped.]

[He will pick up the headband. Is this the usual one Minato wore?

If it's covered in ash, why isn't it as burned as Minato's leggy?]

... I found a cat-earred headband.

[And if he moves the opposite direction from Akane and Namine?]

[whitewalls]

[ why did the youngest person here get stuck on corpse jigsaw duty

naminé just stares at the eye for a long moment before adding it to the pile. she'll look around some more just in case there's anything else that's big enough to stand out?? but ]

... the trail leads out of the gateway. There's somewhere else we have to look for him.

[specialdog]

[ Hm. The gun-ish melted metal seems worth picking up, so Akane takes that, if she can...? And heads over to Namine. ]

It's like someone left a path.

[ Gross. ]

[cyclists]

[No, but it looks similar to the one Minato wore. Val can start moving, and he'll find what looks like a knife buried in some debris. The handle is burned, and there's a little blood on the blade.

Someone save Naminé. The rest of the bits are pretty small here. :(

And Akane can take the gun! It's kind of melted, like it was dropped in lava.]

This isn't quite Minato's, but it looks similar.

[Not... Minato's headband. But then, he gave these out a few weeks ago, didn't he?]

A path to find the rest of Minato's body?

[He picks up the knife. Is it a familiar knife? Did it live in the kitchen at some point?

Does the blood smell like human blood?

If he continues on, is there more stuff this direction?]

[whitewalls]

Even if it's not the rest of his body, it's a path to... something regarding this.

[ but she will now go and cover the ground she did not touch that's not exactly on the bloody path, in case stray flesh bits got over there, for the wagon. ]

[specialdog]

[ Akane just... Wanders aimlessly in a different direction than the other two. She's looking around, but she's not looking for body parts... Gross... ]

[cyclists]

[It's probably not familiar, and most likely came from the armory more than the kitchen. It's definitely human blood. Yay.

Unfortunately the rest of this area is mostly just more bloody, burnt fleshy bits and debris from the blimp. And glitter.

So there's that, right out of the gateway.]

[omegathree]

I found a knife... It doesn't look like it's from the kitchen.

There's definitely human blood on it.

[He'll walk his way carefully back to Namine, trying not to step on anything else.]

Did you two find anything else?

[whitewalls]

No, nothing. If Akane didn't find anything, we can probably leave and then try to figure out where else to look?

[ because i am assuming we have to report first before trying to figure out the next location for the game of where's minato ]

[specialdog]

[ Akane shakes her head, rejoining them. ]

I only found this. [ melted??? gun? and she looks at the knife. ]

Maybe that's one of the knives Hisoka-san gave him.

[cyclists]

[That's it! And as they exit the gateway, they'll get a brief glimpse of something in the distance on the ground, leading toward the fire region.

But they can't go there. Time to head back!]
