It may be difficult to sleep with the light shining so brightly throughout the night, but the participants can rest easy knowing they will not be plagued by unwanted, disturbing dreams. Early the next day, a bell chimes and all will feel compelled to enter the main meeting hall.

The hall looks mostly the same as it always has, the two thrones for Lune and Sol at the head of the room and scrolls hanging from the walls. The metal box sits on a table near the front, along with the glass boxes perfectly centered before the benches in the room. Now that the trial is in session, Shirasu, Lili, Miki and Minato's coffins are open, and their bodies will be available for examination.

Lune and Sol are seated in their thrones, patiently waiting for the last participant to settle. It's only when everyone has gathered that Sol speaks first.

"Nine hours. Don't forget."

They stop, glancing at Lune and gesturing for them to say their piece.

"Face the truth directly, and don't turn away from what you may find."

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the fifth trial!

We'll go over a few notes briefly as we will be playing this trial a bit differently than other games.

As noted, there was no investigation period on Friday. However, today participants will have the chance to investigate areas in the game setting as they see fit! This can be done by providing the name of the location you want to visit to the host header comment. To help with the ease of the trial and for IC mechanics, only one location may be visited at a time. In addition, these locations can be manipulated and adjusted upon request to test theories and solve puzzles, so please feel free to ask if you're searching for clues! Your host will also be accompanying you on these visits.

Most importantly, before the trial is over, please place your character's vote over on the voting page. Voting will close at 9pm EST/6pm PST, and will serve as our activity check for the week, so please be sure you get your vote in before it ends unless you have contacted us previously.

[Four will notice that the lock-break is actually pretty disjointed. It's not a neat lockbreak job, like someone who broke in isn't as skilled as whoever broke into Kazuaki and Minato's house a few weeks ago.

Axel and Saix will be able to see furniture knocked over, along with a wheelchair that's knocked over and abandoned. There are books on the floor, and there's one lying open near the doorway with its pages open.

A liquid is spilled on the floor, a jug carelessly laying around and it has a pretty distinct smell to it as they approach.

There's also some glass on the floor by the window, most of which is gone and on the floor there appears to be a piece of paper? Hm.

And strangely, there's a distinct lack of animals though there's pet fur and feathers to indicate that they used to be here.]

[ saix can go read a book to prove he's not illiterate, axel's nyooming to first check what the spilled jug liquid is. it's fucking sake, isn't it. then he'll move on to look at the piece of paper by the glass, just casually stepping into it because he wears boots so no glass can hurt him, suckers.

anyway, to answer four: ]

It was some kind of magic lock that worked from the outside. I never had any trouble opening it, but I dunno if it might've been meant to stay locked for everyone during curfew.

That seems to be the case because it looks like someone tried to break the look but poorly.

[ Were proper tools used for it and just done not well, or was it like a brute force opening of the lock?

She looks inside. ]

... Did he have pets?

I suppose it would be worth asking.

[ saix doesn't know about shirasu's cute woodland creatures so he's just examining all the books, especially the one with its pages open ]

[Probably brute force, it doesn't look like it was a professional breakjob.

Sake is definitely all over the floor, congrats Axel. The glass crunches under his feet, though it's not enough glass inside to think that the window was broken from outside the house. When he reaches the note, he'll have an interesting read.

As for Saix, he's going to find himself reading a romance novel. How fitting.]

[ he's gonna pocket that note after reading it, a little frown on his face. then because i always forget he's got his gummiphone he'll take a picture of the broken glass ]

Window's broken from the the inside. Shirasu must've jumped out. [ that's hilarious to me, ooc, but he frowns a bit. ] He had two cats and an owl.

[ ALSO I FORGOT TO ADD he looks out the broken window to see if there's any trails of sort that leads. somewhere. ]

If they're not here... did they escape during the break in? Would any of the cats attack anyone?

[ It's a thought. ]

[ Four swings around to the outside where the window is broken. What can be seen here? ]

Were they in with him the whole time?

[ if not maybe they just fucked off at some point who knows. saix will flip through the romance book to see if there's anything else to it, then check all the other books lying around ]

[I'm glad that Saix is reading Twilight. Teej didn't say its Twilight but I'm saying it is now. The other books are irrelevant, mostly, especially given that Axel and Four can look outside and see more glass, a small piece of furniture laying on the ground by the window, and two sets of footsteps that lead off to another point in the village.]

[ welp time to leave the house to go follow those footsteps and ALSO TO TAKE A PICTURE OF THE FOOTSTEPS NEXT TO HIS FOOT SO WE CAN COMPARE SIZES LATER ]

They were with him the whole time, but one of 'em was kind of an attack cat. From what I know, the only people he tolerated were Shirasu and... apparently Akane.

[ She waves back, kind of hesitant. It seems kind of casual for an investigation like this. ]

If that one was mean to everyone and not just select ones... I suppose that can't be an option to see. If we could get the cats and have them react to people.

[ WHERE DO THESE FOOTSTEPS GO....

[They can compare the prints later, but it also looks like one set is running while the other isn't. There's glass on the ground and the prints seem to head toward the shrine.

The furniture is, like, a small stool, something insignificant and little.
