Week Six

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Sol who speaks up first this time.

"Morning. You've done well purging the corruption in the previous gateway, and we'll be doing the finishing touches ourselves. Thank you for your help. In the meantime, we've got another one for you to explore. It's... kind of huge, so stick together when you can."

When Sol finishes, Lune picks up where they left off.

"Hm... There also appears to be something of a change on the horizon. If you are no longer obligated to those you have been attached to - will you stay by their sides?"

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

In addition, as the week goes on, everyone will find themselves capable of seeing one another's memories at the simplest form of contact. For those who are closer to one another, they may see a memory the moment they make eye contact, while those who are less familiar may require a slight touch. The memories will feel as though the viewer is experiencing the event themselves.

While it may not be made immediately obvious - there is no partner effect for the week. The houses of the departed partners may disappear, but there is otherwise no bond attaching pairs.

[As they move forward, one of the hostile vikings gets in their way. He's holding onto an ax and blocking their path to the machine.]

Can you fight, Namine?

[whitewalls]

... probably not as well as others.

Julius has been teaching me how to defend myself.

[omegathree]

Oh, he has? I'm glad to hear it.

[As sincere as he ever is.]

I'll run interference as you destroy the machine.

[whitewalls]

Okay... just be careful, alright?

[ the viking is very big and they are not ]

[omegathree]

[Val is incredibly baffled by this comment. Size has never equaled power.]

I'll be just fine.

[And with that he charges forward, meeting the ax with his sword, making an awful noise of metal clashing against metal.]

[whitewalls]

[ oh.....

she'll watch the battle for a moment before she just. runs off while the viking is distracted. time to break some machines. ]

[omegathree]

[He wreaths his sword in fire, aiming more to distract than to deal serious harm.

But then again, Val is a demon and his version of not serious harm is slicing at the joints so they let go of their weapon.]

[whitewalls]

[ honestly? that's valid

her path is mostly clear so far so. that's good! keep fighting val!! ]

[He cuts at the viking's inner elbow. In return he gets hit by an ax. There's considerably less power behind it now. It doesn't bother him as much as it reasonably should.

Quickly, he moves so he's closer to Namine, keeping her in his sights along with any potential hazards.]

[whitewalls]

[ it's fine? it's a lovely stroll

at one point a dragon sweeps at her, and naminé just drops to the ground in order to dodge it. a viking notices, and starts running t her as she gets back up. ]

[omegathree]

[Val books it towards her, cape billowing in the wind as he attempts to intercept the viking.

Mostly by stabbing him in the gut.

If it works at home it should work here.]

[whitewalls]

[ the viking has on armor, so it doesn't go through, but the force of the blow does make him stagger backwards and away from them.

naminé quickly gets back to her feet. ]

[ AND RUNS OFF ]

Keep going!

[Demons absolutely don't wear armor, so every time he has to fight a human, this part is weird for him. Then again, demons are considerably more resilient to this sort of weapon damage.

He hits the viking once more before running ahead.]

[whitewalls]

Are you okay?!

[ she glances over her shoulder at him

please don't get eaten ]

I'm fine! Look out for yourself first on the battlefield!

[Not what Val is doing, but alright. Okay. Sure.]

[whitewalls]

I am!

[ another viking comes at her, and she just

wildly swings her mace at him and then keeps running, without seeing if it connected or not (it did) ]

[omegathree]

Good work!

[Did Julius teach her mace-combat because if so, he has to go tell him he did an excellent job.

A dragon swoops at Val, and his shoulder gets gouged. It's fine. Not the worst he's had.]

[whitewalls]

[ that was completely on accident but please thank julius anyway

but also thankfully, naminé does not see him get injured, so she's still moving and not fretting over him ]

[Yes, excellent, don't fuss after him. He doesn't like it.

He raises a wall of fire between the far away vikings and Namine, so she only has to worry about what's close to her. There aren't that many vikings close to the machine now. Two or three vikings, and the constant threat of dragons from above.]

[whitewalls]

[ it's fine? it's fine

at the very least, it seems like she's about to make it to the machine. she slows down to a stop when she reaches it and... looks for... how to break this safely...

and it's at that moment that a dragon flies at her. she swings the mace at it, but it opens its mouth and breathes fire, hitting her on the leg and hip because i want her to get a cool burn so i'm making it happen ]

[omegathree]

[Can't do anything about an aerial attack, but he is running toward her side.]

Namine!

[whitewalls]

I'm... okay...

[ not really but

it's fine..,,, ]

[She can say she's fine, but guess what he's gonna fuss.]

Can you walk? Are you alright?

I'm okay.

[ she hasn't even tried walking yet but she's going to say she can anyway. ]
