week six: mingle
Week Six
16 in Competition
16 in Competition
As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.
Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.
As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Sol who speaks up first this time.
"Morning. You've done well purging the corruption in the previous gateway, and we'll be doing the finishing touches ourselves. Thank you for your help. In the meantime, we've got another one for you to explore. It's... kind of huge, so stick together when you can."
When Sol finishes, Lune picks up where they left off.
"Hm... There also appears to be something of a change on the horizon. If you are no longer obligated to those you have been attached to - will you stay by their sides?"
The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.
In addition, as the week goes on, everyone will find themselves capable of seeing one another's memories at the simplest form of contact. For those who are closer to one another, they may see a memory the moment they make eye contact, while those who are less familiar may require a slight touch. The memories will feel as though the viewer is experiencing the event themselves.
While it may not be made immediately obvious - there is no partner effect for the week. The houses of the departed partners may disappear, but there is otherwise no bond attaching pairs.

Welcome to your week six mingle! As a reminder, murder proposals are open. We will also have a mini-event this week on Tuesday at 12pm PST.
In addition, ensure that all of your week five private conversations were reported on the page. If you'll be taking anything from locations, please report that as well.

If you see a good path, I'll follow you.

This way! [Let's go, go, go. She'll give Emma 0.5 seconds before she starts to nyoom.] Be ready to fight your way through.
[The path looks relatively clear-ish, but that doesn't mean there aren't any vikings. Not to mention, the dragons can swoop down to attack them at any moment.]
no subject
[She follows after, holding up her mace in a defensive position - and as they run, she slams it into the chest of a viking that gets a little too close.]
Watch your back!
no subject
[The viking Emma hits staggers back, but with all that armor? It'll take more than a single hit on the chest before he goes down entirely. Once he regains his footing, he seems more than willing to chase after them before they can get away.
... Which is why North is going to steal a page from Val and Kara's books, and immediately wreath her sword in lava so she can slam it into him? Bye.]
no subject
You got him?
[Because there sure is another one coming.]
no subject
Point is, North is turning up her nose in disgust as the viking collapses on himself.]
—Yes! I got him.
[He's not getting up from that one. Time to party with his friend, instead.]
no subject
There might be a dragon approaching as she does. It’s fine.]
no subject
This is fine.
Though Emma's ice attack on the viking has its intended effect, that sure is a dragon swooping towards them.]
Hey— Watch your head!
[What if she just. Yeets her lava covered sword at the dragon.]
no subject
The spikes on her mace extend with jagged pieces of ice, and she slams the modified weapon straight into the enemy’s face. One of the enlarged points lands right through the eye. Gross.]
Now run!
no subject
Emma doesn't have to tell her twice. With the viking super duper dead, North breaks into a run — hesitating long enough to make sure Emma is keeping up with her. One of the machines is a little closer now.]
I'm not risking shooting lava at that thing. [She doesn't know what the smoke is made out of, for starters. Not to mention, the fuel source...] Think you can shut it down with your ice?
no subject
[Which is why she's running
before another dragon flies down and lands in front of the both of them.]
Really?!
no subject
[DRAGON, WHY!!!
If North still had her LED, it would be spinning like crazy right now. But since she doesn't, the only indication Emma gets that she's thinking of a way out of this is in the slight narrowing of her eyes as she rapidly glances around the area. Almost immediately—]
Sneak past it. I'm going to keep it distracted.
[Which is to say
this DPS is going to throw herself at the dragon with her shield raised, like she's some kind of fucking tank. It's fine? It's fine.]
no subject
[She probably has a few more thoughts on the relative wisdom of this plan, but then North yeets herself at a dragon, so. With a pretty audible noise of surprise (that may or may not include swearing), Emma is immediately firing a blast of ice at it to try and freeze its mouth closed before it can breathe fire at the other woman.
That's not going to last long, because it's a dragon. It also means that the sneaking plan is definitely not working, given the way she just hit it in the face. It turns towards her, baring its teeth, as she starts to back away.]
no subject
[It's fine? She had a plan? Except there's no way they're sneaking past the dragon with its attention focused on Emma. North swears under her breath, watching as the dragon begins to break through its makeshift muzzle. There's not much she can do, except shoot a stream of lava at it to catch its attention.]
Hey, asshole! Eyes over here!
no subject
[As North distracts it, though, she chooses to trust her until she can see what exactly her plan is. She starts trying to carefully move around the dragon.]
no subject
[She has her shield, after all, as well as her elemental manipulation. It's not the safest or sanest plan... But as the dragon shifts its attention towards her, it becomes pretty clear that North intends to play a very dangerous game of keep away with it. Once it melts the ice away, the dragon prepares to breathe fire in her direction — and North quickly moves the fuck out if the way, aiming another stream of lava at its face.
Go, Emma, go.]
no subject
That isn't a plan!
[Please save North.
She's getting closer to the machine, but she's still giving worried glances towards the other woman as she does. Please don't get melted.]
no subject
It's fine? It's... fine. She can't feel pain, anyway.]
no subject
She's stopping herself from following through on that, but she's also freezing the dragon's mouth shut again. Once that's done, she's sprinting towards the machine, already raising the mace so she doesn't miss.]
no subject
Shit—! Emma, behind you!
no subject
[She turns, but by the time she sees it - the only thing she can do to stop it from colliding directly into her is drop to the ground, holding her hands over her head just in case it decides to breathe fire. Luckily, it's still shaking off the thin layer of ice covering its mouth.
It's a wonder she doesn't drop the mace, but she isn't about to use it on the dragon. Instead, she aims a ball of ice at it, and as it dodges, it buys both her and North a few more seconds.]
no subject
You need to destroy the machine now!
[North will run towards Emma, firing more lava at it in hopes of getting it to back off, but they have to stop the mind control to get it to chill completely.]
no subject
She gets up, grabbing the mace in her hands as the lava attack gives her enough cover to run. As she approaches the machine, ice crawls up the sides and top to make it incredibly brittle - and then she slams the mace into it, this time before looking back to make sure North is safe.
The ice melts at that moment, but the dragon stops before breathing any fire, giving North a curious look instead. As Emma takes in a few deep breaths:]
Did that stop it?!
no subject
The dragon stares at North.
North stares at the dragon.
There is no... fiery roomba death?
So, cautiously—]
I don't— I don't fucking know. [SHE'S STILL TENSE, MAN.] It's just staring at me?
no subject
[bye dragons]
