The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.



Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

[He should maybe have some self-preservation since she's a stranger, too, but whatever!!]

I'm best at making desserts, but at my school, I tend to make dinner for my classmates. Whatever they ask for.

[So the sky is the limit, honestly. Even if it's a fancy recipe, that just means it's a challenge to overcome]

[That's kind of impressive. And helpful. Especially since Kaoru has probably never made a sandwich in his life.]

Perhaps I'll keep that in mind then. The kitchens seem pretty well stocked. [...he's not going to ask what she wants in exchange, but he's thinking it.] Have others agreed?

To let me cook for them?

[She taps her chin because... well, strictly speaking, no, nothing was agreed upon when the hope is they'll leave before an agreement needs to be drafted up. But still:]

So far, nobody minds. I tend to make big batches of food, too, so I don't want anything to go to waste.

...then I'll send my requests later on. [He's also hoping that they'll bail before it comes to that, but he also refuses to starve.] Thanks.

[Surprisingly, yes, it helps.]

Hitachiin Kaoru. [He doesn't bow back or anything, but he's been introducing himself in the western manner for most of today when he's bothered sharing names so this is still nice.] Nice to meet you, too.

[Ah, definitely a Japanese name. She considers him for a moment, thoughtful, before smiling a little]

By any chance have you heard of Seisho's Music Academy?

[twinsightful]

[There's a tap to his chin as he thinks about it. He's aware of several affluent academies in the area, but that name doesn't ring a bell.]

I don't think so. [Academy implies prestige, but.] Where is it located?

[daibanana]

[Seeing as google has failed me--]

It's in Saitama. [A few hours away from Toyko by train]

It's alright if you've never heard of it. Someone mentioned they didn't know where it was, so I was curious.

[The geography doesn't escape him, and there's a nod.] We were in Bunkyō. [That might explain why he hasn't heard of her academy, though now he's just thinking on that.]

Did they at least know where Earth was? [This is maybe not a weird question.]

[daibanana]

[Hm... he caught on quick]

Some of them were... others, not so much.

I don't know what to make of it, to be honest...

A lot of us don't, but all it can mean is we're all very far away. But everything here looks like what you'd find on Earth anyway. Maybe whoever brought us here is from there, too?

[daibanana]

It would make things easier if they were.

[How it makes things easier is... nothing Nana can explain, except that it would offer some measure of comfort]

... Do you think we're on Earth right now?

[twinsightful]

I don't think so. If we are, it's a part of Earth that I've never seen before and nobody else has either. [Which doesn't mean much because it could just be a quaint village somewhere.] But if we aren't, then I don't know how to explain why it's very...normal.
