The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.



Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

That sounds dangerous for you to do alone.

[ it's dangerous to do not alone, actually, as they just experienced. ]

You're bleeding.

[compendiem]

It's okay.

[ No it's not. But it'll stop bleeding eventually. ]

If I do it myself, I'll be able to time the jump. I could use your help watching, though. I missed whether the gate even shook at all. If you could watch for me, that'd be very helpful.

[whitewalls]

[ she looks really hesitant. ]

Promise me that you'll be okay.

[compendiem]

[ ...he really doesn't like making promises he isn't sure he can keep. ]

I'll do my best to get out safely. Okay?

[whitewalls]

Okay.

[ there's a moment of hesitation, and she'll go to move out of the tractor.

she also proceeds to almost fall right over because wow they had hit that gate hard and she is still wobbly. but once she regains her footing, naminé will give a small wave before heading back towards the gate so she can have a better view of this bad idea. ]

[compendiem]

[ Anybody else would probably ask if she's okay, instead of sitting and staring like Minato does, waiting for her to get out of the way before he starts the tractor again and accidentally runs her over or something.

He waves back as soon as she looks ready, makes sure he isn't wearing the seatbelt, and slams his foot on the gas pedal. We're doing this again, I guess.

He gives himself two feet of space just before crashing before he throws himself sideways, but physics dictates that even if he's trowing himself sideway, he still gets his forward momentum and crashes into the wall or tree or whatever's next to the gate, still going 23094858 mph ]

[whitewalls]

[ oh no

naminé immediately runs towards him, sliding to the ground so she can sit down next to him, carefully reaching out. ]

Are you okay?!

[ she doesn't want to flat out touch him in case he is very hurt and that touching him will make it worse ]

[compendiem]

[ Mmmm, no, probably not okay. Somehow, Minato is still alive, using up all his effort to raise a hand and give Naminé a thumbs up, like that'll calm her down. Everything hurts though, spinning and stabby and he's going to lie here for a few more seconds until one of the two stops. At least he's not bleeding. Externally. ]

...I'm good. Did you see?

[whitewalls]

The gate didn't even budge. I'm starting to think it's impenetrable.

[ admittedly she did not see as much of the collision as she could have, since her focus was on minato dying, but her answer would still be the same regardless. ]

[compendiem]

[ Naminé... Minato was counting on her to pay attention to the important things.

He sighs, and rolls over onto his back, hands resting over his stomach. ]

Too bad... I thought for sure we could ram though it. We'll put this idea on hold for now, but I'll think of something else. We'll find a way through.

[whitewalls]

[ maybe if this plan didn't go so badly she would have paid more attention to the gate!!

she's still frowning though. ]

Can you get up?

[compendiem]

[ Maybe if she paid attention to the gate, it would work next time!!! ]

Yeah.

[ He makes no attempt to get up. ]

Think I might lie here a while and brainstorm, though.

[whitewalls]

Do you mind if I sit here with you while you do that?

[ :/ ]

[compendiem]

...I don't mind. I'd appreciate the company.

[ And a sounding board for his bad ideas, so she can tell him "Minato, no" before he throws himself bodily into the gate again. ]

[whitewalls]

[ yeah, she has definitely learned her lesson here which is why she is staying with him now. no trust. ]

You can put your head in my lap, if you'd like.

[compendiem]

[ Minato can't survive in the wild without little girls looking after him, apparently. ]

...Your legs will fall asleep, won't they?

[whitewalls]

It's fine. It won't be the most uncomfortable position I've been in.

[ but more importantly, it's more comfortable than the ground as a pillow ]

[compendiem]

There's no reason for you to be uncomfortable at all, though.

[ For Minato, everything already hurts, so lying on the ground doesn't make a difference to him at all. ]

...Maybe let's find somewhere inside to sit. Where there isn't so much sun.

[whitewalls]

... mm. Can you stand?

[ or like. walk. even she was stumbling a little and she only went through one crash ]

[compendiem]

[ Can he stand? He's not exactly sure, so instead of answering her, he makes the attempt to stand. So far so good... If he can ignore the pain, it's fine. It's fine. He can take shuffling steps, and try not to move anything unless necessary. ]

Ha... Kinda feel like taking a 10 day nap. [ And not wake up after ] Are you doing okay?

[whitewalls]

I'm fine.

[ probably

but she's in better shape than he is, which means that she's fine. she stands up after him. ]

We can go slow.

[compendiem]

Alright.

[ Going slow... towards the houses... He's going to take that 10 day nap and stay out of trouble. ]
