INTRO LOG
Week Zero

32 in Competition
The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.
A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.
Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.
Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.
It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.

Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.
Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

[ in the air, on the ground... it's a miracle they haven't left a trail of death behind them already, frankly. The plants here must be tough. ]
no subject
[if he can't regenerate, he wouldn't be surprised if this person can't emanate poison.]

[ their tone suggests they don't understand what he's trying to say, wobbly as their voice currently is. They thumb away some of their mercury tears, seeming a little embarrassed, but continue to glare as best they can.
The other thing he said is more concerning, anyway. There's a word there that sticks in their chest. ]
... Does that mean you're a human? Is that what all of you are? Humans...?
no subject
There do seem to be quite a few humans here, yes.
no subject
So... these are humans.
[ their ancestors, according to Phos and Sensei. They suppose that explains why they look so much like gems. It gives Cinnabar a sort of queasy feeling in their gut to think about, so they stop thinking about it. ]
Why did they bring me here? Do they need me for something?
[ ... they sound vaguely hopeful as they speak, even if they themself aren't aware of it. ]
no subject
I'm not sure. However, it's unlikely they'd abduct us for no reason, so I imagine they have some kind of purpose for us.
no subject
well, that sounds nice. They feel like they would've been happier about it last year - but now, the gems remaining on Earth stick out in their mind. Their friends...
That, and it's hard to get the willpower to feel happy about anything anymore. ]
... That's hard to believe...
[ they sigh, their head sinking back into their arms. ]

[ ... they only know that even the Lunarians don't want them. Why would humans? Or whoever's behind any of this? ]
There's probably been some kind of mistake.

[ mercury starts beading up in their eyes again as emotion wells in their voice. ]

no subject
Whatever... It's not like it matters.
[ what happens to them. They like helping the other gems, but they know they're not needed. And after what happened to Phos... No, that never mattered. They thumb at their eyes, then gesture at his tablet. ]
Why does your voice come from that box?
no subject
not that shess is really surprised by this, so he doesn't mind explaining.]
It's not my voice. It's an artificial one created by this device, based on whatever I write down in it.
no subject
[ they don't get it, and also aren't delicate enough to not ask directly. Empirical evidence shows that humans can talk without a box like that, and they don't see anything wrong with his head that might impede speech. ]
no subject
[that's the simplified version, anyway.]
no subject
[ ... why are they even asking?! ]
Nevermind. This is pointless.
[ carefully giving him a very, very wide berth, Cinnabar starts walking, stepping out of their chosen nook. ]
