INTRO LOG

Week Zero
32 in Competition

The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.

Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

[ they give her a flat look. It's not really that amazing - it's just the way they are. Having known nothing else, it's hard to see it as anything other than normal. ]

Of course it is. I'm not like a gem. I am a gem. I told you that already.

[ although, for a gem, they're very weak - the softest out of all the gems, in fact. Cinnabar's not about to tell her that, though. ]

The type of gems I'm used to are much smaller than you.

[Demonstrating with her hand, making a small circle with her fingers -- the size a diamond would be if it were placed on a ring. Very small, is what she's getting at]

This is my first time talking with one.
globs: (that trouble's gone)

You probably just saw pieces of us. We wouldn't function at that size.

[ this would be their first time talking to a human, too, but they already ran into a bunch of other ones earlier today. ]

H... Hurry up and get the clipboard for me already.

Oh, right! I almost forgot.

[Did she now? well, that aside, Nana perks up and rummages underneath the bed... where she hid the clipboard.

Listen, when she said she was waiting for her roommate to come find it, she meant it. Can't have strangers stealing the goods. With a proud expression, she thrusts out the clipboard for the other to take]

Here you are, um -- I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name.

[Roomie never gave Nana their name but details]
globs: (why don't you open your blue eyes?)

[ She put it under the bed? Maybe she really was trying to keep it safe. Cinnabar doesn't know why she would do that... They reach out and snatch it from her hastily with a gloved hand before cradling it close to their chest with both arms. For not being important, they sure are treating it like some kind of treasure. ]

You don't need to know my name. If it matters to you, you can just look at those scrolls properly tomorrow.

[ so stubborn!! Their eyes dart around past her, clearly looking for a quick exit. ]

I'm leaving.

[How nasty.

And yet Nana's expression doesn't flinch in any direction besides a larger smile, looking more apologetic than put-out that her roommate isn't interested in exchanging names.]

Alright, I'll make sure to check tomorrow, Roommate-san.

[And if they're looking for an exit, there's no better escape than the door they came through. Nana makes sure she's not standing in front of it. There's a bow --]

Have a good night, then. I don't know if gems need to sleep, but it might help to get some rest. Everyone's had such a long day.

[And then she'll just... stand there, waiting for the other to leave]
