INTRO LOG
Week Zero
32 in Competition
32 in Competition
The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.
A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.
Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.
Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.
It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.

Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.
Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

[ It makes him sound like he's chasing on instinct, like a dog to prey. This'll be tiring, though, so he really doesn't want to do this. ]
If you stop, I'll stop. I still won't look. Okay?
no subject
[ STILL RUNNING-- except they proceed to trip on a rock and fall on their face with a squawk, seeing as they're distracted looking back at him. Miraculously, nothing breaks. ]
no subject
Are you okay...? Usually... it's just Shadows that run.
no subject
they are frazzled, to put it lightly; the small, floating droplets of mercury around them spike and shiver, reflecting their current mood. Once they check that nothing's chipped off, they pull themself to their feet, turning on their heel to face Minato defensively. If he won't leave them alone, then... ]
-- What are you?! What do you want? [ ... then they're going to completely ignore what he said. Their hands are clenched at their sides, and the quicksilver is roiling around them. ] I'm tired of fighting already... And yet...
no subject
I'm... also tired of fighting... I guess? Are you a medusa?
[ They can both ignore what's being said, great conversationalists. ]
no subject
What? I'm obviously a gem... I don't know what that is. [ after a second, they take a deep breath, then arch their shoulders, taking a step closer. ] Answer my questions!
no subject
"What am I?" ...good question. [ now's not the time to be all existential though ] I guess, most specifically, I'm a student? [ that my fingers autopiloted to type stupid, and he is that too ]
And I just wanted to talk. See if everything was okay.
no subject
Who asked you? I don't need weird animals worrying about me! Stop it...
no subject
[ He's been called an idiot and a freak in his first two hours here, he can take "weird animal" in stride. ]
no subject
[ they don't understand what he even is!! They've never heard of any animals that can talk. ]
I don't know who you are -- or what you are, even! And I don't know where I am or what's going on... What happened?! Did you do this?!
no subject
It's hard to answer some of those questions... My name's Minato, and I don't know anything about this place either. But I'm not the one who brought you here. Are you hungry?
no subject
-- Of course I'm not hungry. I'm a gem, [ they growl, seeming annoyed at what they consider stupidity. ] What are you trying to say? Someone kidnapped all of us, then...?
no subject
Hm... Sounds like it. But... I don't think they mean harm. Nothing here more dangerous than I am. [ Is that comforting or worrying? he doesn't know ] I think it'll be alright.
no subject
[ with an angry shake of their head, they turn on their heel, beginning to walk away again. ]
no subject
[ Yeah... that's not news to him, though, being an idiot. His hands go back into his pockets as he trots after them, uninvited and unpreturbed. ]
Why am I in danger talking to you, though?
no subject
You're an animal. You'll die if you get too close to my poison. So go away.
no subject
So it's for my sake... [ He gives Cinnabar a little more space, but not much. He also doesn't stop following, because he's an idiot. ] What kind of poison is it?
no subject
[ it's an especially powerful and fast-acting variant of mercury, but they don't know that much. They don't care to know, either. It's embarrassing and they hate it - that's all. ]
no subject
Not everything... The ground you're walking on doesn't look poisoned, after all. And I've been chasing after you all this time. I'm okay too.
no subject
What are you talking about... Fine. Then you can just die. It's not my fault if you can't see what's right in front of you.
[ still plodding along and pointedly not looking back. ]
no subject
[ Captcha is Cinnabar's savior... Minato lets them go, and remains standing in place for a while, slowly getting mercury poisoning or something. ]
