The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.

Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

[He seems very kind even if they know nothing about each other. There's a slight comfort in that, but Fujino shifts her feet as if uncertain.]

I... I can't argue against that. It might even be the best option since none of us has an idea about what's going on.

[he nods.]

It's odd that we've been left here to wander with no information, but perhaps they wanted us to get used to the environment first. And, to each other.

So... It's like we're supposed to make friends?

Possibly. An odd expectation, but there's not much to do yet other than to talk to others. [a beat.] Which reminds me—if you find yourself hungry, I know a girl named Daiba was making food for others.

I'm not hungry.

[She pauses, trying to remember the last time she ate. After all that happened to her, she didn't have much of an appetite.]

... Or at least I think I'm not.

Understandable. Well, if you change your mind, I think she was planning on making more banana bread later.

That sounds delicious.

Shess-san, do you like sweet foods like banana bread?

I do. Why do you ask?

I guess you have that sort of look. But I might just be making too many strong assumptions. I'm sorry.

No need to apologize. You weren't wrong, after all.

Good. I'm glad.

[She looks over her shoulder to look at the houses and back at Shess.]

Have you been inside one of these houses yet? I haven't taken a good look myself, but I'm assuming no one lives in there.

[he nods.]

One of those was where I found my device. [he lifts up his tablet for emphasis.] Perhaps something of yours is in one as well?

There's nothing. The scroll with my information said I didn't have any item of note.

[huh.]

That seems odd. Did you have nothing on you before this as well?

[Her head shakes.]

I didn't have anything with me when I was taking a walk through my neighborhood.

[It's not a lie, it's not the whole truth.]

So I wouldn't expect anything of mine to be here.

I see.

[hm.]

I suspect they're meant to be our shelter for the night, though things may be tricky if you have no way to identify which is yours.

I see... And the living space is limited or at least that we know of.

[he nods.]

But if you can't find which one is yours, then feel free to stay in the one apparently meant for me.

[he points to his (and miki's) house.]

I don't plan on staying there, so there'll be room for another. The other occupant is a girl around your age.

[which is why he's not going to stay there, since he figures that it might make miki uncomfortable?]

That's...!

[Oh no, that's too much is what she wants to protest with.]

I can find my room, I'm sure. Wouldn't you prefer to sleep inside at least? Where do you plan on staying even?

[how to say "i don't sleep" without sounding weird...]

I don't need it. I plan on looking around this area some more at night, at any rate.

But you certainly don't need to take that offer. Perhaps I can help locate your house? I've been inside a few, and we can eliminate any that had two items, I think.

That won't be necessary.

... But I wouldn't mind looking at the other places to cover more ground. Unless you've already been everywhere, so...

Not yet, I haven't.

What places have you seen already? For me, it's the houses, of course, that meeting hall, the amphitheater, and that armory.

Aside from the houses and meeting hall, I've been to the armoury, flower garden, and library.
