INTRO LOG
Week Zero
32 in Competition
32 in Competition
The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.
A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.
Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.
Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.
It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.

Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.
Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

[well at least she's so distracted from her rage that it's no longer incredibly cold around her
just kinda chilly]
Do people have time for something as stupid as pranks here?!
no subject
[ people be weird sometimes? he shrugs ]
It's just an idea, since you didn't look like you were consciously doing it. But the temperature seems to be getting back to normal, so it looks like you are responsible for the cold front.
no subject
You said it was magic?
Do you know... magic?
[she hates asking this]
no subject
[ he demonstrates by making a little baby flame in the palm of his hand, outing himself as a fire person accidentally and immediately because it's so obvious he doesn't realize it's not his normal fire magic ]
no subject
Lili watches before nodding as if she has entirely decided something on her own - ]
How did you learn? Teach me. I'll compensate you.
[the entire tone of this conversation went way into left field]
no subject
[ the entire concept of being paid to teach teens anything is hilarious somehow? the entire concept of being paid, in general? ]
I don't think you wanna learn the way I did. There are way easier ways. [that don't include joining a cult and dying, not necessarily in that order ] But sure, I'll teach ya. I dunno how good I'll be at it, though. Ice ain't really my style.
no subject
Magic isn't a concept I'm familiar with at all in my country - the bar is low. You'll be fine.
[she didn't have to say it like that]
no subject
she's so rude? why does he find it funny ]
Oh, good, I work best in lowered standards. That way I only wow people's expectations. [ why is he like this? ] First things first: this is totally new for you, right? The ice thing.
no subject
seeing as he isn't, she's not going to change at all and that works fine by her standards. being nice to people? disgusting.]
Completely new.
Were you born with fire magic?
no subject
[ reborn? twice? god, let's skip that. ]
Alright, so, so far, you used it kinda subconsciously. Any clue why? Thinkin' about anything in particular?
no subject
[she crosses her arms, irritated again - and the air gets slightly cooler around her]
It's unsafe.
no subject
Ah-- stop, there. Can you feel it? The air got kinda colder again.
no subject
[she pauses at that, lifting a hand up as if she'll be able to feel it - she does, slightly. the change.]
... oh!
[she's fascinated by the results of her own anger]
no subject
no subject
[she's just going to get angry again if she's not given direction
casual radiating ball of anger]
no subject
no subject
she falls quiet, thoughtful. she's not really focusing?
it's more like she's not sure what she can harness easily besides uh
righteous anger]
...
What do you think about?
[teach by example?? maybe???]
no subject
I don't really use ... feelings? Emotions were kind of a no-no when I was really learning this stuff. [ because they weren't meant to have any, but let's not go into that ] I just kinda think "fire" and it happens.
[ he equips it to his magic slot ]
But that's not super helpful for you, so
no subject
[are there books on this! what kind of place did he come from! other countries with magic access are important to know about!]
no subject
[ the academy of organization cultists. ]
I had pretty lousy teachers, though. Wouldn't recommend it.
no subject
[she could've chopped off the entire first part of that sentence
but she'll at least look sympathetic]
At least you seem to have passed.
no subject
Speaking of, it's time to try and get you a passing grade. Just try and focus on how you felt the first time it happened.
no subject
[IT'S WHAT SHE TAPS INTO MOST EASILY, UNFORTUNATELY -
but it's not hard for lili to feel angry. at least this time she does it on purpose, a sort of cold, chilling anger - which does manifest in the air getting a bit colder again. not quite as intensely as it did before, but.
it's something]
no subject
Well, it's doing something, but it's not as much as before. Hmmm...
no subject
[admittedly that's not that hard for her either]
