Week Zero

The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.



Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

And so the obvious option for your extra free time was to join a cult?!

It wasn't obvious... Had to jump through lots of hoops to get to that point.

[ He didn't stumble into joining a cult. No, he purposely got involved. ]

You realize that makes it worse, right?

I can't just lie about it...

[ He could. But he doesn't. ]

So cult membership is fine, but not telling the truth is off the table?

[compendiem]

Yeah...

[ Yeah ]

Which would you rather do?

Has this conversation left you with the impression that I wouldn't rather lie?

[compendiem]

...It's hard to tell.

[ He needs like three conversations to understand people, though it's a bit easier with all these pointed questions. ]

Doesn't it feel uncomfortable when you lie?

[ Like... joining a cult does not. What is a conscience? ]

I have some serious concerns about your moral priorities, kid.

[A frown.]

Didn't you have to lie about joining at some point?

[compendiem]

[ Implying that he lied about wanting to join, in order to join? ]

Hm... I didn't exactly join... officially. Couldn't afford the dues. So I just participated.

[ Which could mean anything. ]

[foodbin]

Participated... how, exactly?

[compendiem]

............Can we talk about something else?

[foodbin]

[In most other situations she would probably say no, but.]

...Yeah, sure. What do you want to talk about?

Do you know what sort of flowers are okay for horses to eat?

[foodbin]

...Just flowers, or plants in general?

[compendiem]

I'll take anything edible.

[foodbin]

I think most herbs should be fine. If you can find chamomile flowers or strawberry leaves, that should work.

[compendiem]

Chamomile or strawberry... Okay. I have no idea what chamomile looks like, but I can recognize strawberries.

[ Which, in that case, he feels confident enough to feed the horse actual berry, not the leaves. ]

Are apple seeds poisonous to horses?

[foodbin]

It looks kind of similar to a white daisy, but smaller. I could help you find some if you needed to.

[She shrugs.]

Depends how many apples you feed him. They do have cyanide compounds, but I think he'd have to eat a ton of apples to really get sick from them.

[compendiem]

Best to limit to one a day, then. If you're not busy, I'd appreciate having help finding chamomile.

[ Clearly, this is much more important than anything else going on, drop everything you're doing and help him. Minato, on his part, needs these sorts of small tasks to keep him occupied or else he'd spend the entire game asleep in bed for easy stabbing, can't have that. ]

[foodbin]

[After a moment:]

Wait, you don't mean right now, do you?

Uh. Are you busy right now?

[ He meant right now. But he can wait? ]

[foodbin]

I mean, don't you want to try and find a way out?

[A beat.]

Oh, right, you think this is hell or whatever. [...] Sure, I can spare a few minutes.
