Week Zero

The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.



Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

Who's to say it wasn't both? [He's turning to look over someone else's profile. Apparently he's also used to people doing a lot of digging into other people's lives.] Maybe we should take them down.

I'm willing to go for it if you are.

[ he's not a fool he's not taking full blame if something horrible happens ]

Sure. [It sounds better than just standing around doing nothing.] Which one do we take down first?

[leaberator]

Yours or mine? You pick. We can move on to the others if it works after.

[ let's be selfish!!! ]

[Give him a moment to puzzle that over.]

[leaberator]

[ he makes a face at that ]

In another life. [ so to speak. ] Let's just say I was kinda... morally dubious there, for a while. I'm working on making up for it.

[twinsightful]

A redemption arc. [Right, right. ] In that case let's get rid of yours first before more people read it and get the wrong idea.

[leaberator]

... Yeah, I guess so. [ the redemption part probably happened already, but let's go with that anyway. ] We're prolly a bit late on that, but better late than never.

[ and then they will try to remove the scroll i guess i can't wait to see what happens ]

You think? [He's a tall boy, so he's going to try and yank on this scroll. Predictably it goes nowhere. He's going to keep tugging though because now he's just confused. ]

[leaberator]

[ ? ? ? ? ?

Lea also tries to yank and. nothing. ]

What, is it glued on?

[ that's weird. ]

[So now it's two of them tugging on this scroll and there was a slightly delayed reaction there. Kaoru ends up feeling it first because there's a slight yelp as he feels a burning sensation in his hands. It definitely feels like they're burnt now.

Axel also gets the same treatment so there's that. ]

[leaberator]

[ axel only gives a slight hiss as he hastily removes his hands, looking over them ]

What the heck? What, is it magic cursed glue? Ow.

[ it's not his first time getting burnt (ha ha), but-- ]

You okay?

[Hate that. Anyway there aren't physical burns at least but it definitely stings. He's busy blowing on his hands...just ignore the slight smoke wafting from them. It's fine almost immediately.]

Yeah. What was that...? [A tentative poke to the scroll again. ]

[leaberator]

Don't put your hand right back on it.

[ kaoru??? no???? ]

Must've done something to make sure we couldn't take them down. Now all the insults make sense.

[twinsightful]

[He pulls his hand back.] Why, because whoever wrote them knew we couldn't argue about it?

[leaberator]

Yeah, pretty much. [ wryly; ] Or they guessed some idiots would wanna take them down if they did, so they'd get to see firsthand if their trap worked.

[twinsightful]

...[He slips his hands into his pockets.]

You think someone's around watching us right now then?

[leaberator]

[ ... he looks almost somber, for a second ]

Definitely. With all the info they have gathered on everyone, I'd be pretty surprised if they aren't keeping a close eye on us right now.

[twinsightful]

So where are they? [That's uncomfortable. ] I've checked every building. Hidden cameras?

[leaberator]

Or something creepier. [ wanna expand on that? no? okay. ] But cameras probably a good guess for now. There's no way they'd go to all this trouble to get everyone here and then not observe what happens.

[twinsightful]

But that's also implying we were all brought here at the same time. We don't know how long everyone was asleep, do we? Maybe they already observed us and are leaving us alone now.

[leaberator]

Hmm... Maybe, but I get the sense they wouldn't put us all together if they didn't want to watch us interact.

[twinsightful]

Any guesses what they're looking for? There's thirty two of us.

[leaberator]

Not a clue. Even just going by those scrolls, there's too many people here to figure out if we've got anything in common.

[twinsightful]

[Instead of arguing that, he goes silent then. He should assess the facts a little better before he says anything.]
