The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.



Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

...Why isn't there ever anyone else around when he wants them to be. With a small sigh, Ookurikara follows the trail of smoke, cautiously pushing the door open and poking his head inside. ]

Oi, what's going on? Are... you okay?

[ He's going to regret this isn't he. ]

[it'll be apparent that the smoke and steam is just going to keep. billowing from the house?? loOKS LIKE THERE'S PEOPLE INSIDE AND the combination is being caused by ice and fire. literally.

lili's on one side of the room and kaoru's on the other and she looks like she's going to strangle him]

There's no way I can be expected to live in these conditions!!

[ Ah.

Yeah, looking between the two of them? Ookurikara definitely regrets this. ]

Then don't. One of you can sleep somewhere else.

[ Seems simple enough. He doesn't understand the need to fight over it. ]

[Someone save Ookurikara tbh because it's not going to be these two. Instead, Kaoru's on the other end of the room with his hands balled into fists. He's not one to hit girls, but also. But also.]

See that? [A gesture to the newcomer here.] It's like he said. You can sleep outside. [There's a slightly devious grin but simultaneously he sure as hell isn't leaving.]

I will not! What kind of brute are you to make a lady sleep outside? You don't have any manners!

[SHE LOOKS AT KURI AS IF HE'LL?? HELP???]

You know there aren't any beds in any other location!

[ Don't act like he's on your side, either of you. He's not here for support. Who even are you? (someone didn't pay much attention to the scrolls.) ]

I don't care where either of you sleep, just don't burn down the whole village.

[He's flexing his fingers, choosing to look at those instead of at either of them.]

I don't see a lady here though, do you? [Little sparks of flames flicker from his fingertips on accident and he jumps in surprise, shaking out his hand.] The village probably won't burn down if she just admits the bed should be mine since I got here first.

[ Forget whatever dumb argument you two are having - Ookurikara's eyes instantly zero in on the fire. Wtf, he'd thought it was a kitchen fire?? He should definitely leave, but he takes a step inside the house instead. ]

He is! He's a danger to my person!

[ This kid's about to set the house on fire and Lili is worried about a bed? Ookurikara turns away from Kaoru long enough to give her an irritated glance. ]

It won't matter who deserves what if he burns it down.

I'm not the only one doing this! [He's using a hand to dramatically point at Lili.] She's adding to the steam, too. [When in doubt, throw your new roommate under the bus.]

[ Operation: Regret Everything is underway! Because wow, you two and your skewed priorities are both annoying as fuck.

Still. He does give Lili a quick glance up and down to see if Kaoru's right, but - no sparks from her. He does notice traces of ice on her side of the house, but since it doesn't look like it's coming from her like the fire is from Kaoru, he's still a step or two away from making that connection. ]

You can do it too? The fire?

[ Normal humans can't do that - not even the weirder swords can do that. Is this some kind of saniwa thing or ]

Who cares whose fault it is? If you burn the whole place, neither of you will have a bed.

The building's not going to burn down, but it might freeze over. [This is somehow suppose to be worse? No, he's just trying to blame Lili.] Which would be her fault.

[ Confused, he looks back over at Lili, and the ice on that side of house. But she didn't deny it when he asked about fire?

Either way. Neither of you will have a bed if you keep this up.
