INTRO LOG
Week Zero
32 in Competition
32 in Competition
The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.
A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.
Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.
Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.
It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.

Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.
Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

Next time try not to cut your hand like that. It's going to get in the way unless you're good with pain.
[Because apparently her main concern is where the cut is at, more than anything else. Guess she's kind of practical]
no subject
he's been through a lot worse than this, so honestly, this cut barely registers to him.]
no subject
[She doesn't believe that for a moment. You don't leave wounds leaking out in the open, she knows that much, so she starts searching around for anything that could be used as a bandage]
So what? Are you just bad with blades?
no subject
no subject
Well I'm sure you know what you're doing, anyway.
[Apparently the thought he can't talk hasn't even crossed her mind. She's not the most considerate hyena ever]
no subject
Thank you.
no subject
...I was starting to think you weren't very sociable...
[She has never seen anything like this before]
no subject
Unfortunately, it's not a choice on my end. I'm sorry if I startled you.
no subject
[...wait, what is she saying. Of course he'll do that again. Looks lie that's his only way of talking! She's going to have to get used to this or else, pretty much.
...
This is going to be impossible, isn't it, she wonders]
Nevermind! What even is that?
no subject
[... also, based on reactions he's gotten so far, he'll elaborate:]
It hasn't stolen my voice and it isn't alive or anything like that, in case you're concerned about that.
no subject
...can I try?
[Grim Eyes, other people's communication technology aren't toys]
no subject
As long as you're careful.
[not that it should be easy to break, but he does kind of need this device. still, he'll hand it and his stylus over.]
no subject
The stylus is a tad cumbersome, though. She's not even sure how to grab it]
So this is just like writing! I shouldn't...
[She shouldn't. Partly because she's already kind of fearing she'll accidentally break it, this being an object she's not familiar with, so she's not sure if she'd do something wrong. But curiosity is powerful. She tries to write just a word to test -- 'word' -- but really, the way she's griping the stylus isn't helping at all. Does this tablet even register anything when the writing is very shaky?]
no subject
which is to say that it thus speaks—in the same voice shess has been using, assuming she hasn't changed the voice settings—the word she just wrote.]
no subject
The guy was having a hard time communicating without the tablet, judging by how things went earlier Maybe she really should stop messing with this. Take it back, Shess!]
Your...your object, here. Have it. If I break it I sure won't know where to find another one, so take it before I drop it.
no subject
Nothing like this exists where you're from, I take it? It's relatively new to me as well.
no subject
[Her world's technology is simple and medieval, pretty much]
I can't even figure out what that's supposed to be made of.

[She even leans closer like she was asking something she was embarrassed to ask. Look, this has to be of some use somehow! For...purposes.
She'll think later what purposes]
no subject
I'm not sure. This was created by a group of people back where I'm from. I don't know how you'd procure one here.
no subject
...fine. I wasn't that interested in it.
[But still...she's curious:]
What kind of people were they?
no subject
[hm.]
I'm not acquainted with them personally. This is a product they sell.
