INTRO LOG

Week Zero
32 in Competition

The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.

Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

Fine. Don't forget.

[because she's not going to let go of it]

If we can't go through the gate, our options are over or under.
nonbelligerent: (lies for you. 1-6)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-06-02 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
I did meet someone with a shovel here.

[is he joking? who knows.]
coastal: (✧ the princess has arrived)

[personal profile] coastal 2019-06-02 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
Let's go get them.

[she's

she's not joking]
nonbelligerent: (the night it rained fire. 19-3)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-06-02 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
[...]

On second thought, I don't think digging a tunnel will work.
coastal: (✧ making it weird)

[personal profile] coastal 2019-06-02 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
[?????]

Why did you change your mind so quickly?
nonbelligerent: (the return. 4-4)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-06-02 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
[he gets the feeling she might be a little offended if he tells her he was originally joking, so he's trying to put this very diplomatically.]

Because I realized we have no way to keep it from caving in on us.
coastal: (✧ a visitor? for me?)

[personal profile] coastal 2019-06-02 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
[he's

he's right

and it's luckily averted]

Oh - we can just find alternative supplies to create posts....

[ . . . ]

My tribe doesn't do much mining, but I imagine it works something like that?

[please don't risk it on a guess]
nonbelligerent: (twisted bird. 12-2)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-06-02 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps we should find an expert.
coastal: (✧ am i supposed to be impressed?)

[personal profile] coastal 2019-06-02 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
A mining expert?

[she doesn't know the meme but

it's in the tone of "in this economy?"]
nonbelligerent: (the night it rained fire. 19-3)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-06-02 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
Something like that. Perhaps put the tunnel plan on the backburner unless you meet someone who can carry it out?
coastal: (✧ dumbass)

[personal profile] coastal 2019-06-02 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
Fine. Next plan. Your turn.

[she thinks the tunnel idea is FINE]
nonbelligerent: (twisted bird. 11-1)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-06-02 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
While it'd be too dangerous to climb the gate as it is, we could maybe try if we find a way of cushioning our fall properly.

[...]

Though I doubt our abductors would let us wander freely if escape would be that easy. They could be watching us from somewhere right at this moment.
coastal: (✧ a visitor? for me?)

[personal profile] coastal 2019-06-02 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
I presume as such - I haven't been able to see any guards, so I took that as a chance that they might have hidden themselves among our number.

[still....]

Will that stop you from trying?
nonbelligerent: (your seven years. 1-1)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-06-02 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
No. Still, best to offset risks when possible. An escape where you die is a failed escape, after all.
coastal: (✧ well that's odd)

[personal profile] coastal 2019-06-02 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
[there's a pause on lili's end - one where she looks thoughtful. it's not always true, she thinks, considering that she'd botched one of her escapes before on purpose....

but.]

You're right. Being caught or dying for nothing would serve no purpose.

But there's no further information available in the village - there's not even a person to meet that could offer answers.
nonbelligerent: (the night it rained fire. 19-2)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-06-02 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
Not yet.

But I suspect someone will show themselves, sooner or later. If they simply planned to kill us all, they'd have done it already. So, there must be something they expect from us. But without any kind of external influence or guide, we're unlikely to fulfill their intended purpose.
coastal: (✧ do you shop in a dumpster)

[personal profile] coastal 2019-06-02 06:14 am (UTC)(link)
[ . . . . ugh.

she crosses her arms]

I'd rather not wait for that to happen either.
nonbelligerent: (the night it rained fire. 5-1)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-06-02 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
That's fair. I'll admit I'm curious about whoever's behind this.

[he wants to see who is more powerful than the primeval gods themselves.]
coastal: (✧ die immediately right now)

[personal profile] coastal 2019-06-02 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
They're probably twisted.

[SHE SAID THAT TOO FAST]
nonbelligerent: (lies for you. 1-6)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-06-02 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
[he lets out a silent laugh.]

They probably are.
coastal: (✧ ur sketchy af tho)

[personal profile] coastal 2019-06-02 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
People who do things like this always are - power and corruption, and all that.

[time to be scathing about people she's never met]
nonbelligerent: (twisted bird. 6-3)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-06-02 06:24 am (UTC)(link)
You sound like you have a lot of experience with abductions.
coastal: (✧ woooow you're cute huh)

[personal profile] coastal 2019-06-02 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
[lmao]

I most recently nearly died by public execution in a slave camp run by drug smugglers. I'm allowed to have opinions.
nonbelligerent: (lies for you. 12-1)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-06-02 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
[ah.]

Yes, I'd say you are.
coastal: (✧ pokes a squirrel)

[personal profile] coastal 2019-06-02 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
[she waves a hand, like it's pretty whatever

anyway.]

This is still nothing like that - we were very obviously watched, which made it at least easier to determine when there were gaps that could be exploited.

This containment system seems both too free and too perfect.
