INTRO LOG

Week Zero
32 in Competition

The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.

Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

twinsightful: (THOUGHTFUL ♜ How does that work?)

[personal profile] twinsightful 2019-06-02 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
I guess you can cook it? Most flowers aren't going to be tasty. But there's a farm?

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-02 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm... Could've sworn they put flowers in tea and stuff.

[ But you also don't straight up eat the flowers, so maybe that's invalid. ]

But I guess a farm would be more useful. Could find another horse and see what flowers they eat.
twinsightful: (DISBELIEF ♜ How can you be this dumb?)

[personal profile] twinsightful 2019-06-02 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
...are you trying to feed yourself or a horse?

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-02 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
Horse. But knowing how to feed myself might also be helpful.
twinsightful: (FLUSTERED ♜ Ah man...)

[personal profile] twinsightful 2019-06-02 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
Shouldn't one of those be a bigger priority than the other?

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-02 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
I know... That's why I'm trying to find an edible flower for it.
twinsightful: (THOUGHTFUL ♜ Lay it on me)

[personal profile] twinsightful 2019-06-02 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
You can eat things that aren't flowers.

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-02 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
So can horses...

[ This doesn't sound like a conversation he's going to win, so Minato shakes his head to take a step back. ]

I was sorta hoping for apples, actually. But I think in movies horses eat flowers too? Just something different than everyday grass.
twinsightful: (ALERT ♜ What's up?)

[personal profile] twinsightful 2019-06-02 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
[Hm.]

There are trees out at the farm. We could check there? [He's not concerned that this teenager doesn't know how to actually feed himself.]

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-02 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
[ Don't be concerned about him, he'll be able to live off flowers for the rest of the game. ]

Hm. Good idea. [ The obvious idea, the idea Minato should have had, but he likes wandering here and there checking things out instead of going directly where he needs to go. ]

The farm is...

[ That-a-way. He turns towards it. ]
twinsightful: (BITTER ♜ You're dead to me)

[personal profile] twinsightful 2019-06-02 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
[I meant now and also that's the worst.]

Right. I was going that way soon. [Because he can't stop looking. This place is pretty big, it's entirely possible he's simply missed what he's looking for and not that it's not here at all. He'll turn as well.] It doesn't hurt to get a better look at our surroundings either.

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-02 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
[ Oh. Well. It's like midnight or something as far as Minato's concerned, he probably had a cup of coffee to steel himself before killing Ryoji so he isn't very hungry rn anyways.

Minato nods along with Kaoru's words, eyes naturally sweeping the area as he walks, hands in his pockets, a terrible slouch. ]

...I wonder...

[ Hm... He turns to Kaoru. A very important question: ]

Do you think horses like red apples more, or green ones? Yellow?
twinsightful: (NEUTRAL ♜ And I care why?)

[personal profile] twinsightful 2019-06-02 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
[Well. That's fine. He's also putting his hands in his pockets as they shuffle along.]

Red ones are sweeter, so probably those. Why don't you try all three of them?

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-02 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
[ Kaoru is full of good ideas, he should be Minato's sounding board ]

I can do that. If the horse doesn't like one of them, I can have the leftovers, too. Win-win.
twinsightful: (SCOFF ♜ As if)

[personal profile] twinsightful 2019-06-02 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
Are you going to try and live off of apples then? [Not his problem, but sure.] I don't think horses are too picky.

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-02 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
That and flowers. But, you know... Horses get tired of grass.

[ He says it as a fact. It's a fact; Swift Wind says so. ]

It'd good to have variety in your diet anyways, right?
twinsightful: (POISED ♜ May I present...)

[personal profile] twinsightful 2019-06-02 06:59 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't talked to many horses, so maybe you're doing them a favor by asking around. [He seems amused at least.]

But I guess so. Most of what we have at home is whatever the chefs feel like making.

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-03 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
[ Chef...s, in plural... ]

And they like making...? Bread? I'm kinda jealous.
twinsightful: (SCOFF ♜ As if)

[personal profile] twinsightful 2019-06-03 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
They'll make a lot of savory dishes mostly. Traditional Japanese dishes. Eggs and bacon in the morning. [Shrug.] Typical. I wonder who's cooking for us tomorrow.

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-03 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
[ Those typical meals of his sound like feasts in Minato's mind. ]

...There weren't any chefs when I visited the kitchen. That's... kind of why I was considering the flowers, you know? Gotta feed yourself.
twinsightful: (FLUSTERED ♜ Ah man...)

[personal profile] twinsightful 2019-06-03 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
I would think food in the kitchen would be easier to identify than the flowers. [Minato.....]

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-03 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
[ Here's a real question: ]

Do you trust the food in the kitchen?
twinsightful: (ANNOYED ♜ Whining usually works)

[personal profile] twinsightful 2019-06-03 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
I trust it more than eating the flowers here.

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-03 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Minato begs to differ. You can easily poison food, but there's no point in poisoning flowers because nobody is stupid enough to eat flowers and nobody in their right mind would poison something an animal might eat, that's just mean. ]

...Hmm. I guess there's no real reason to bring us here just to kill us again. I guess I'll take my chances with the kitchen stock.
twinsightful: (SNEAK ♜ Don't mind me)

[personal profile] twinsightful 2019-06-03 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[That loop of logic is so much.]

It'd be a waste. [To bring them here just to die.] I met a girl who was offering to cook for people. You could ask her.
