The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.



Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

[things shess did not expect upon waking up in an unfamiliar place: explaining world history. though, if nothing else, it reconfirms that something odd is definitely going on.]

You've never heard of the Cataclysm?

[ She shakes her head. ]

What's that?

[he pauses.]

A series of disastrous events that redefined how the world worked. If you've never heard of it, I don't think we're even from the same universe.

... You're probably right.

Do the planets you've been to look like this? With the same trees and grass, and the sky? This is what Earth looks like, although the architecture is pretty old fashioned.

[nonbelligerent]

It depends on the planet, but Willarv looks similar to this, yes. [...] Then, we may be on Earth?

[specialdog]

But it Willarv looks like this too, then maybe we're there.

[nonbelligerent]

The architecture is somewhat out of place, though.

I guess the only way to know for sure if it's Earth would be to find out what's outside of this village. But that seems impossible.

The gate wouldn't open no matter how hard I tried.

Maybe there's nothing past it.

What do you mean?

It doesn't have to be Earth or Willarv, or anywhere else we've ever heard of.

Maybe this village is the whole world.

[nonbelligerent]

Do you have experience with worlds like that?

[specialdog]

[ She laughs. ]

Of course not. I told you, I'm from Earth.

[nonbelligerent]

[listen he doesn't know what earth is like]

What would be the purpose of such a small world? Unless it's meant to be some kind of pathway between them...

[specialdog]

Maybe it's just easier to manage, for whoever made it.

[nonbelligerent]

Do the gods usually have difficulty managing the world where you're from?

[specialdog]

That's a pretty deep question... I don't think I can answer. It's not like we can see gods or meet them.

[nonbelligerent]

he's quiet, because hm, that sure is one difference between their worlds!!]

... Can you talk to gods?

[nonbelligerent]

It's not that common, but it's not unheard of, especially if one has been summoned to the planet.

[specialdog]

That's pretty amazing.

But I guess when you have inter-planetary travel, all kinds of stuff must be possible.

[nonbelligerent]

Maybe. Still, there are probably many things on Earth that would sound strange to me as well.
