The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.



Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

[Fujino looks blankly at Kaoru for a second, but then nods.]

I don't mind doing that.

... Are you going to check with me? Or by yourself?

[Kaoru doesn't look scary, but physically, Fujino is frailer and weary for too many good reasons.]

[It's his turn to stare at her because he's not sure how to answer that. He didn't even think about it, but. Well, it's a good question. She seems...okay. And being alone doesn't sound too appealing... ]

It might be faster if we check together. Then we don't overlap houses either.

[fujino]

Okay. I'll follow your lead if you don't mind.

[She clasps both of her hands together instead of holding her side this time, looking expectantly at Kaoru.]

I'm Asagami. Fujino Asagami.

[twinsightful]

[Cool, more things he's not used to. But he doesn't seem too bothered and he nods, bowing his head a little before he turns and begins walking to the houses.]

Kaoru Hitachiin. [A pause.] Nice to meet you. How long were you at the gate...?

[fujino]

Not very long. I spent a few minutes examining it.

[Aka, trying to distort it into oblivion, but realizing her Eyes don't work at all.]

But the end result was obvious. Nothing happened.

[twinsightful]

We really are locked in. [That was obvious but heading it out loud...it's a little disconcerting.] There are a few of them around. We're blocked on all paths.

[fujino]

It's like a type of prison. If we didn't know any better, looking at this place you wouldn't think that.

[twinsightful]

What if it's not a prison? Maybe it's a zoo.

[fujino]

Oh? That's quite a take. But we don't have an audience do we?

[twinsightful]

Not one we can see. What if the gates are actually two-way mirrors of some kind?

[fujino]

Considering we're a bunch of people from various places and circumstances... Almost any idea we throw out seems plausible. But it won't change the fact that we can't find a way out yet.

[twinsightful]

That's why we're looking for keys. [He points at the first available house.] Let's check there first.

[fujino]

[With a wordless nod, Fujino goes up to the house, opening the door and looking around.]

... It's quite normal, isn't it?

[twinsightful]

Yeah...that's what makes it a little creepy. [He'll venture in, checking out the room and looking under the pillows on the bed. Whose house are they in? Who knows.] Like they want us to be comfortable here.

[fujino]

A comfortable cage in a zoo... It's a novel, but thoughtful at least.

[twinsightful]

That would also imply all of us are interesting to them. Whoever they are. [He puts the pillows down, doing another sweep of the bed for any keys or clues.]
