The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.



Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

[IT MIGHT BE HARD TO SEE GIVEN UHHH EVERYTHING but there is definitely steam and smoke inside the house also.

[It's hard to see given he's surrounded by a cloud but at the same time he hears a voice and he turns his head, a hand waving away some of the smoke to get a better look.]

No. [That's an answer to Miki before he turns back to Lili.] My things were here first.

[There's absolutely no way of knowing that, but it sounds great.]

[ Oh.

Hi Lili.

Miki just stares for a moment, before... walking in and. Y'know. Don't mind her she's just going to crack a those whole two windows open and try to get rid of this smoke before one of you chokes to death and accidentally solves this whole problem with a death on day one. ]

There are something like 16 houses when I last counted and a lot more than 16 of us. Sorry, I don't think I can solve this for you unless you want to play jan-ken-po or something...

Ugh - there's a seating area! He can sleep there for all I care, but there's no way I'm going to give up the bed to a boy!

[Oh. Well he recognizes what jan-ken-po is and he's giving Miki a questioning look, seemingly dropping his guard for .5 seconds.]

We're not playing that. [Mostly because he's not confident he'd win and that's not okay.] Isn't it more appropriate that the person who found their item last should get second choice?

[ Miki just makes a motion with her hand - clenched in a fist, she bounces it three times before sticking out the flat of her hand. And then-- ]

Jan-ken-pon. [ In time with her words, but it's two fingers out sideways this time. ]

Isn't it meant for solving disagreements like this? Especially if sharing is out of the question.

I'm not solving this with a stupid game when etiquette and propriety are the obvious standards to use?

Wouldn't proper etiquette be to put forth what's fair? A game of chance gives us a 50/50 chance. [Except for when Kaoru thinks he can probably cheat because Lili doesn't know what she's doing. There's a look to Miki.]

I think you’re both being overdramatic, but if it stops you both yelling so loud people think you’re committing a murder then do whatever works best.

[ Seriously. She waves her hand around to blow away some of the smoke that’s lingering in the air, even with the windows open and some fresh air actually getting in now. ]

What did you guys do? Try to light the bed on fire like “if I can’t have it no one can”?
