INTRO LOG
Week Zero

32 in Competition
The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.
A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.
Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.
Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.
It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.

Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.
Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

You don't have to talk. You shouldn't.
[She's not that bold or pushy enough to eke out a conversation. Her voice continues to be soft-spoken and gentle.]
It's hard to talk when you're crying.
no subject
I don't know what you're talking about! I don't even know what you are...!
[ their hands clench the bark of the tree they're hiding behind tightly; there's a cracking sound as the wood snaps under the pressure of their stone hands. ]
Was it you? Are you the one who brought me here?
no subject
[Fujino looks down at her palm as if examining herself. Cinnabar had unintentionally brought up an interesting question. That aside, she sets her hand to look at them again, shaking her head.]
No. I didn't do anything. No one is to blame. No one knows anything.
no subject
[ ... they trail off. They don't know. They don't know anything, at least, even if they don't think no one knows anything. They're trembling visibly as they stare at her, searching desperately for the words they should say, but they cannot come up with a single one. They're scared, and they don't understand what's going on. They wish Sensei was here. ]
no subject
... You might be correct. Someone has to know something. But I haven't heard anything yet.
[Fujino wonders if she's simply letting herself get distracted by this crystal being's emotions, letting her forget for a moment she was previously in a dire situation of her own doing. There is something distinctly inhuman about Cinnabar, but the anger and fear they're expressing is... Refreshing. It's more human than her.]
... When you have tears coming out of your eyes, it means you're in some kind of pain. That's fine. It means you're alive. And you're alright.
[She stands up preparing to leave them be. There's not much else she can do and she thinks she's satisfied her curiosity.]
I think most of us are just exploring our surroundings by now. There's nothing dangerous going on.
no subject
What -- you don't know anything about me! Shut up! Shut up...
[ they know they're alive - and they're sure everyone is in danger, too. if only because they're here. They grip the tree tighter, sinking against it, against their better judgement - they know they're condemning the poor thing to death like this, but they need the comfort of hiding. That's the sin of their existence. ]
no subject
[That's just the facts.]
I can only talk about what I see.
no subject
[ they can only respond with barbs. Seeing isn't enough. If she's just looking, surely she can see that there's something wrong with them just from their appearance and from the poison all around them. So why is she looking at all? The shame makes them want to crumble into dust. ]
Just go away...
