Week Zero

The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.



Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

Akane did theorize that perhaps this entire village is the world. That its boundaries stop outside of the gate.

But then why would they lock us here? We're going to run out of supplies eventually. [ But it's better than the other theories.] It would make sense though. If there's nothing else out there we would just fall into a void.

Unless they intend on replenishing our supplies or ending this before that happens.

The gardens look well-kept. Someone must have been here recently. It could be either or.

That or they're unusual gardens. But you're right.

[Shrug!] All we can do is wait and see. [Which...is stupid.]

...that tablet was here waiting for you?

Yes. I found it in one of the houses.

How long is it going to hold a charge though? [He's going somewhere with this, bear with him.]

[i'm dodging the question because i don't actually know if it runs on conventional power or not.]

[A nod to the tablet. He's a very 2002 brain so even if it doesn't:] Eventually it'll run out of power. They wouldn't just leave us here without a way for you to communicate. So...we'll probably be out of here soon.

There are other writing supplies available, so I won't be completely doomed... but let's hope you're right.

Kaoru. [No last name since he thinks that's what they're agreeing on here.] Did you arrive alone, Shess? [He's also bypassing honorifics because that's a hassle thanks.]

Neither do I. It seems to be that way for a lot of people but not all of them. So far the max seems to be four from the same place.

And no pattern we can tell, I assume.

Not yet. The relationships between the people who have arrived together seem to be positive, however. I guess you could call that a pattern in itself.

For now. [Ominous. But he straightens up and nods his head.] I'll see if I can learn anything else about the possible planets we're coming from. I'll let you know if I find anything interesting?

Thanks. [With that, he lifts a hand and turns to head down another path in the garden.] See you later then. [And off he goes just in time to wrap for the new mingle.]
