INTRO LOG

Week Zero
32 in Competition

The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.

Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

[ he. laughs, a bit. ]

You'd think so, right? But I've met my fair share of people with memory problems. Just try not to forget it, is all I'm asking.

[She exhales a "hm", gives his hand a strong shake, and lets it loose.]

I will not forget either of them. Although I will have trouble choosing just one. Perhaps I'll rotate back and forth.
leaberator: (dad look it's the good kush)

[ why does he look mildly amused at that ]

I feel like that'd just get more confusing for you, but whatever floats your canoe.
tothemaxwell: (she's a bomb)

How so? People often call me "Maxwell", or "Milla". I find it depends largely on the situation, or contents of conversation.

[like whether or not someone is making a joke]

What is the context of your two names?
leaberator: (this is the dollar store)

[personal profile] leaberator 2019-06-03 02:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[ ... That's just how a last name works, he doesn't say ]

Lea's my name. And... Axel's sort of a long-standing nickname.

[ a rebranding when he joined a cult that he got attached to is a bit weird to say ]
tothemaxwell: (i'm a fuse)

[personal profile] tothemaxwell 2019-06-03 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I see. In that case, I shall use "Lea" for most of our conversations, and "Axel" when we become close enough to merit use of a nickname.

[it's just good sense]

Perhaps, if I get angry at you, I should use both of them together...?

[ she's thinking so hard about it...? He feels kinda bad, but it's also kinda funny. ]

Well, I've had both names used when people were mad at me, but never at the same time. I think that'd just sound weird.
tothemaxwell: (stand back)

1/2

[personal profile] tothemaxwell 2019-06-04 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Hmmm... let me try it, and see.

[please hold]
tothemaxwell: (i'm about to go off)

[personal profile] tothemaxwell 2019-06-04 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
[And suddenly she's looking straight up, commanding voice booming:]

Lea Axel!

Stand up straight!

You are in BIG trouble, young man!
leaberator: (emily wake up)

[personal profile] leaberator 2019-06-04 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
[ im beating captcha solely because this tag is so funny. he does stand up straight for one second ]

Woah!

[ a beat ]

It's even weirder when you talk like someone's teacher.
tothemaxwell: (she's a bomb)

[personal profile] tothemaxwell 2019-06-04 10:55 am (UTC)(link)
But it did appear to work! [she seems... pleased???]

Thank you, Lea. I can assure you that I will not fail to remember any of your name.
