INTRO LOG

Week Zero
32 in Competition

The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.

Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

[I don't know what you want me to say Val finds this completely normal.

It tastes like..........

a fish. It might taste better with a little salt, but it's good for being a raw fish.]

[Milla is having a little trouble.]

Hmm... this is not quite what I imagined from your description.

I'm a vampire, I'm supposed to eat them raw.

[There are so many little bones in this tiny little fish.]

Human like creatures would probably prefer them cooked.

[is milla human, i don't know.]

[She frowns.

There's a hideous crunch

and she swallows.]

Yes, the bones were quite troublesome. I think I would prefer the other half cooked.

[Val does not cook.

However how hard can it be to put some sardine in a pan with some salt?

He holds out his hand for Milla's half eaten fish.]

Very well.
tothemaxwell: (stand back)

[personal profile] tothemaxwell 2019-06-02 07:17 am (UTC)(link)
[She passes it over, headless.]

Thank you. I'm not certain how to prepare fish.

Your sardine facts will certainly come in handy, here.

[personal profile] omegathree 2019-06-02 07:21 am (UTC)(link)
I prefer them raw and whole, but this can't be so difficult.

[He fires up a pan, salts the remaining fish and tosses it in. He'll wait until the fish is more than just slightly charred on both sides before pulling it off and handing it back.]

The skeleton is still there, so eat one side of the fish before the other. It'll be easy to remove it after that.

[It's much more palatable now. While it does still taste like sardine, it's actually cooked and meant for human consumption.]

Everyone certainly has their own preferences...

[She watches him fry it, looking not unlikely a patient and attentive pet, rocking on the balls of her feet with cloaked anticipation.

On completion, she takes it in two hands, nods—and chows down.]

Oh! What a rustic flavor. As you said, this is much better. It's certainly much easier to see the attraction of sardines like this.

[personal profile] omegathree 2019-06-02 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not so difficult to prepare them either.

[He seems so proud of himself for basically just putting a fish in a pan.]
tothemaxwell: (she's an atom bomb)

[personal profile] tothemaxwell 2019-06-03 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, its simple preparation technique is certainly part of its charm. And the flesh is light and oily, but filling!

[She chomps the rest of the fish away, cleaning it down to the bones.]

Thank you... oh! I haven't even introduced myself.

[Fish bones in one hand, she extends the other.]

Milla Maxwell. I hope we can continue exploring the wonders of sardines together.

[personal profile] omegathree 2019-06-03 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
[Nobody who like fish could be all bad.

He takes his hand in hers and shakes it once before pulling away.]

Valvatorez.

[Even if it was already on those profiles that everyone could see.]

For as long as we're here, I'll help you with that. It is a promise.
tothemaxwell: (rigged up)

[personal profile] tothemaxwell 2019-06-03 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmph. Valvatorez, I'll hold you to that promise.

[there's a pause, and she holds up the bones.]

Now then—where do you think would be best to put these?

I thought to throw them out, but I read in a book that they're very good for farming.
omegathree: (39)

[personal profile] omegathree 2019-06-03 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[He just eats the bones like a gremlin.]

Is it used for composting?
tothemaxwell: (she's a blonde bombshell)

[personal profile] tothemaxwell 2019-06-03 03:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[!]

What incredible jaw power!

Yes! You can make very fertile soil from it.
omegathree: (15)

[personal profile] omegathree 2019-06-03 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[He's evolved to drink blood but also i had to read he eat sardines whole, so I guess his mouth can just do this now.

The bones didn't even get stuck in his gums. Excellent.]

Were you going to start a farm?
tothemaxwell: (she's an atom bomb)

[personal profile] tothemaxwell 2019-06-04 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
No. But this area does contain farming equipment, does it not?
omegathree: (15)

[personal profile] omegathree 2019-06-04 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps you could bury the bones underneath trees or other crops.
tothemaxwell: (rigged up)

[personal profile] tothemaxwell 2019-06-04 10:59 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps I will!
