INTRO LOG
Week Zero

32 in Competition
The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.
A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.
Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.
Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.
It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.

Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.
Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

no subject
there's no way to hide it and she doesn't bother
she's disappointed]
Brute force, then.
no subject
Yes. Crude, but effective.
[Milla doesn't seem too put out by it.]
And what about yourself? Any skills that could assist?
no subject
though the question just gets her to bristle]
... none here. [status and resources mean nothing if she can't access them, after all. she'd been praised before for her tenacity, for her ability to give other people hope through the way she acts but... she doesn't think that's worth anything to mention now. it won't generate results.] If I can leave this place, maybe.
I won't get in your way.
[she offers that up pretty readily.... but she'll press on with something that seems to be important to her]
Even with just your brute strength - do you intend to protect people with it?
no subject
[The response is immediate, expression shifting into a dogged, open tenacity.]
What good is strength if it isn't used to protect those without it, while they find their own?
no subject
hmph.
that's the first answer that lili's really liked all day, actually.
so she seems to relax and even offers up? a smile? niji i hate that you already got lili to smile on the first day]
... then you can call yourself whatever you'd like, oh obtuse lord of spirits.
no subject
Her expression softens ever so slightly—and she extends a hand.]
My name is Milla. Milla Maxwell.
no subject
she'll? match it? is this a greeting for spirits??]
Lili An of the Water Tribe.
no subject
What place is your Water Tribe from? It seems safe to assume you're not a Rieze Maxian.
no subject
[?????
she'll take her hand back as soon as possible, thanks]
My Water Tribe is one of the four tribes of Kouka, and our capitol is Suiko. We do plenty of trading with other countries but...
[??? what's a Rieze Maxia?]
no subject
But of the two vast continental countries the Maxwell oversees, Elympians cannot use mana, and Rieze Maxia does not truthfully have a "water tribe" these days, so I extrapolated that your origin could not have been from my own world—and it seems I was correct.
[That's just logic.]
As a member of the Water Tribe, are you able to use mana to cast water-based artes?
no subject
worlds??? now it's lili's turn to look confused]
Mana? Artes? Explain yourself.
no subject
Is that sufficient explanation? That you need it at all should be proof enough that we are from completely different places, don't you think?
no subject
And - everyone has that skill where you're from...?
no subject
Of course, that isn't true of all countries, where I'm from... perhaps you could say that somewhere around half the world's population possesses such a skill?
Why?
