INTRO LOG

Week Zero
32 in Competition

The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.

Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

[She shakes her head.]

Can't say I do. Why, do you?
leaberator: (no???)

[personal profile] leaberator 2019-06-02 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. A few, actually. Kinda weird.

[ well, not that weird considering kh circumstances, but weird considering who exactly showed up ]

I'm trying to figure out if we're special cases or if other people got brought in together.

[personal profile] foodbin 2019-06-02 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Well... Are they friends, or people who are part of the long mortal enemy story?

[That seems important!!]
leaberator: (oh yeah? how old are you?)

[personal profile] leaberator 2019-06-02 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Friends. [ though his gaze flicks to the side with a bit of a frown as he thinks about a certain scroll, but-- ] Not how my luck usually goes, but hey, I'll take it.

[personal profile] foodbin 2019-06-02 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[A pause.]

You might want to save that until you know why we're here, you know.
leaberator: (oh my god why does he have a knife)

[personal profile] leaberator 2019-06-02 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I've probably jinxed it so that the reason behind it is worse than it was originally.

[ at least he's. self-aware? ]

But if I gotta be stuck in a nasty situation, it's easier to be stuck in it with friends than with enemies, right?

[personal profile] foodbin 2019-06-02 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[She laughs.]

Right. I'm sure your comparative optimism has doomed us all. Curse you, sir.

[There's a slight frown as she comes to his next point, though.]

Easier, sure, but... [Hm.] Nah, never mind. You might be right.
leaberator: (and just remember!)

[personal profile] leaberator 2019-06-02 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
My bad, my bad. Curse me and my big, kinda optimistic mouth.

[ he looks curious at the other thing, but-- ]

Lemme guess. Part of your long story?
foodbin: (pic#13146191)

[personal profile] foodbin 2019-06-02 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[She points towards him in a joking kind of way.]

Look at that. You're catching on, too.
leaberator: (so no head?)

[personal profile] leaberator 2019-06-02 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, I'm a quick learner.

[ they're just idiots, is what they are ]
foodbin: (pic#13146243)

[personal profile] foodbin 2019-06-02 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Right. Well... In any case, I'm glad you've got your friends here.
leaberator: (that you only meant well?)

[personal profile] leaberator 2019-06-02 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[ for some reason, he looks a little embarrassed by that? ]

Ah-- thanks, I guess?
foodbin: (pic#13146197)

[personal profile] foodbin 2019-06-02 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[She pauses for a second.]

Did I say something wrong?
leaberator: (and i never learned how to read)

[personal profile] leaberator 2019-06-03 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
Nope. [ ... okay, he should probably expand on that ] Just-- not something I've ever... heard before?

[ god that just makes him sound sad? ]
foodbin: (pic#13146144)

[personal profile] foodbin 2019-06-03 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
...Wow. That is the saddest thing I've heard since I got here.

[But there's nothing mean spirited about her tone, somehow.]
leaberator: (how do you know what's good for me?)

[personal profile] leaberator 2019-06-03 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
[ he lifts a hand to his forehead ]

That's a little bit hurtful, I'm not gonna lie.
foodbin: (pic#13146195)

[personal profile] foodbin 2019-06-03 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
Well. Room for improvement, right?

[emma that's not any nicer--]

Maybe soon people will say they're happy for you at least once.
leaberator: (next to a bANANANA)

[personal profile] leaberator 2019-06-03 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
[ god he's trying not to laugh ]

You're really making me sound like some kinda sadsack now. People just don't say stuff like that, alright? Geesh.
foodbin: (pic#13146191)

[personal profile] foodbin 2019-06-03 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
[She laughs, waving a hand.]

Okay, okay, I'll lay off.
leaberator: (this is the dollar store)

[personal profile] leaberator 2019-06-03 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks. For sparing my ego.
foodbin: (pic#13146188)

[personal profile] foodbin 2019-06-03 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
Any time, pal. [...] Actually, I don't think I asked your name. I'm Emma.

[She could just look at his scroll, but that feels kind of rude, somehow.]
leaberator: (honey you've got a big storm comin')

[personal profile] leaberator 2019-06-03 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
It's Lea. Got it memorized?

[ oh no he said it ]
foodbin: (pic#13146137)

[personal profile] foodbin 2019-06-03 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
[A small laugh.]

It's not a hard one to remember. I might even spell it right.

[barista jokes......]
leaberator: (dad look it's the good kush)

[personal profile] leaberator 2019-06-03 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah? Spell it out for me, right now.

[ because it's just pronounced lee. ]
foodbin: (pic#13146257)

[personal profile] foodbin 2019-06-03 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, I'm gonna guess it has a weird spelling based on that...

[She pauses for a moment to think about it.]

L-E-I-G-H?
