INTRO LOG

Week Zero
32 in Competition

The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.

Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

Yes. For as long as I've been alive I haven't heard or seen God.

I believe it's the same for the angels I know.

I see. We don't converse with the Primeval Gods as often we do with our kind, but it wasn't entirely uncommon. One of them in particular liked to hang out with his non-god friends before he disappeared...

How long have they been missing?
nonbelligerent: (lies for you. 1-3)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-06-02 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
About twenty-three years. Not that long.

[personal profile] omegathree 2019-06-02 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a short time to go missing.

It is. Either way, as the overseers of the universe, I'm sure they have their reasons, and that we're still moving according to their plans.

[for better or for worse.]

You trust them that much?
nonbelligerent: (the return. 3-6)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-06-02 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Those are merely facts. They have reasons for their actions, whether or not I agree with them, and as beings with the power of insight, manipulation has always been their forte.

Interesting. The way your world works is so different from mine.
nonbelligerent: (lies for you. 12-1)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-06-02 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
And how does yours work?
omegathree: (05)

[personal profile] omegathree 2019-06-02 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
If there is a God there's just one and they don't get involved in our affairs. For good or ill, they leave us to our own devices.

There was a ghost that almost doomed the Earth and we had to stop it on our own.

Humans have also started creating their own final bosses. They've become oddly effective at that now.

You're from Earth as well? There seem to be a few of you...

[though, uh.]

Final bosses?
omegathree: (05)

[personal profile] omegathree 2019-06-03 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
I'm from the Netherworld, which is beneath the Earth.

The monsters or people you fight at the end of a long campaign? Those are final bosses. Usually only a hero can kill them.

[uh]

Your world sounds very interesting.

[personal profile] omegathree 2019-06-03 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
It is. I've grown quite fond of it over the years.

[Val you're not that old. You're a young vampire.]
nonbelligerent: (the night it rained fire. 19-4)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-06-03 11:49 am (UTC)(link)
[yeah you're still less than a million, val]

Were you not fond of it before?
omegathree: (05)

[personal profile] omegathree 2019-06-03 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[And yet he's still the oldest Disgaea protagonist. He has a job.]

It took a while.

[It's kind of a stupid reason to not be fond of the world, but oops.]

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-06-03 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[he smiles.]

When you live a long life, you have time.
