INTRO LOG
Week Zero
32 in Competition
32 in Competition
The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.
A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.
Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.
Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.
It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.

Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.
Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

[that much lune can at least agree to with certainty]
The intention of bringing you all here is so that there may be harmony within the universe, and each of you have a vital role in order to allow that to happen.
no subject
[harmony within the universe, is it. that's a lot to just accept, but he supposes he's in no position to argue the information he gets-- only to get it, and to judge it from there.]
And can you elaborate more on just what sort of role any of us are intended to play, in such an undertaking? It hardly seems the sort of thing that could be influenced by even this many of us.
no subject
After all, Sol and I had no part in doing the choosing.
But rather the universe [a gesture upward, as if that is meant to signify the universe] thought you fitting for it.
no subject
[probably, maybe? hm.]
Then in what way are we meant to make that change?
no subject
Hmmm... I suppose the best choice would be to form a consensus. We have provided you with a dilemma: the instability of the core of the universe.
If left unchecked, it may collapse but we do not know what is creating the restlessness. Perhaps this is the way it is meant to be. Or you may intervene, and choose to calm it.
Ultimately, we know that the choices that you all make are the driving factor behind everything that happens here. For good or for worse.
no subject
[basically: do they actually need to be worried about the whole collapse part?? does 'the universe' encompass literally everything, he doesn't know for sure, he's from the past, don't look at me.]
The potential results may be helpful to keep in mind, considering the inherent difficulty of reaching a consensus between this number of people-- and the fact that not all may be motivated to do so.
[if they're not personally at risk, well. surely some people might think there's no need.]
no subject
[as for everything else - ]
It is difficult to tell you what the results may be from your choices here, given what the young one and I currently know, and what we don't.
Viewing into the future, and what might become of all of you and us, is nigh impossible when there are still so many paths for you all to take.
no subject
Then what may become of us if we choose poorly remains to be seen, just as what may happen if we reach a favorable solution... I will hope it all becomes more clear with time, then.
[shirasu exhales a faint sigh, there, with a little shake of his head.]
As far as our participation to that end, is our only driving factor to be either our desire to help or our desire to be able to leave this place safely?
no subject
[just a little note of curiosity!]
Each of your individual desires and motivations will be important for the course of this - as well as how you influence each other.
no subject
[he'll answer that far, but he doesn't seem too inclined to elaborate on it.]
If those will be important, then I suppose until we know more about how to proceed-- we'll simply have to get to know one another.
no subject
I always find that to be a rather engaging task.
You have a great number of names, motivations, and stories to learn. The young one and I are also available, but since we are not actively participating, we won't be offended if you prioritize one another first.
