The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.

Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

Yes. It's worrying. Whatever brought us here must be extremely powerful.

[ it wasn't him it was sora!!! axel's allergic to the ocean!!! ]

No kidding. Just wrapping my head around how powerful is giving me a headache. Not to mention gathering this many people from how many worlds without anyone noticing...? Give me a break. That's way too much.

It's beyond the level of anything I know.

[and he's acquainted with the creators of the universe, so? this is bad.]

I don't know how it kept its existence secret all this time. Or, what purpose it has in bringing us here and now.

[ he sighs, but then he shrugs ]

Well, if I know anything about powerful guys and their evil plots, whoever's behind all this is just waiting for the best opportunity to show up to give a speech about their whole master plan in the most grandiose way possible.

[ this might not always be accurate, but he's just going to run with the hope that that's how it'll work out ]

[he smiles wryly.]

I'd like that. It'd make things simple for us.

Hey, it can't be too much to ask for something to wind up simple, considering the mess we're probably in.

[ it is definitely too much to ask and he knows. ]

[yeah, uh. shess isn't using the tablet but his expression is screaming I THINK THAT'S WISHFUL THINKING.]

[ he just. laughs ]

Hey, don't look at me like that. A guy can dream, can't I?

[heh.]

You're not wrong there.

[ he grins because? obviously he knows he's not wrong? but then he gives out a sigh ]

Speaking of hope, here's hoping we get some answers soon. I kinda don't like being left in the dark like this.

[he nods.]

Not knowing is the part that makes the most uneasy. At least with answers, we can start thinking about how to deal with things.

And until then, we're just stuck in a waiting game. [ ugh? ] I've never been too good at those.

Not the patient type? [he smiles.] Though it's true that waiting is always the hardest part.

Nope! Not even a little bit. [ just. blunt. ] If we can get answers sooner rather than later from them, that'll be neat, but I guess I should try an' look into it myself until then.

That's a good idea. No point in sitting around on our hands, after all.

[he hasn't really bothered to memorize the details yet, but that one was the odd one out when it came to names.]

Ah... yep. [ hm. ] It's kind of a long story, but both are fine. Axel's just catchier to say.

Whatever you say, Axel. [a pause.] Shess. Just the one name, I'm afraid.

You're probably better off, Shess. It can get kinda complicated.

[ at least he's self-aware? ]

Names tend to be complicated things.
