INTRO LOG
Week Zero
32 in Competition
32 in Competition
The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.
A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.
Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.
Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.
It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.

Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.
Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

Protect? What kind of danger do we need to protect people from?

I genuinely wish I could say... but at this time I'm not sure in what form the unrest will take.
The core of the universe is still new, and while the young one and I have been able to determine the extent of instability, we have not had the time to witness its direct manifestation.
I apologize on both of our behalf.

She frowns. ]
All right. From what you've already told me, our actions will help stabilize it. What happens after the universe is shaped? Is that something you can tell us?
no subject
[thoughtfully:]
It is difficult to say what will happen to a universe not yet formed. Perhaps it will be benevolent, or it will be chaotic.
While I have a preference... those of you here will ultimately decide what you would like it to be, and what you would like to come after.
Predicting the future is a gift I've often wished that I could have - but there are too many possible futures for it to be of any use.
no subject
[ It couldn't hurt to know. ]
... How much do you think the present and future can change?
no subject
... to put it succinctly, of course. However I might need a cup of tea if we are to engage in a longer discussion. In truth... I do not know if it's appropriate to impart my will upon you all. Even still, thank you for asking.
[it's nice of her?]
But I suppose... the present that you exist in has a great ability to change the future. The people you meet, the results you see for your work - all of it may affect what your future may look like.
You may say something to a person, but based on even the slightest changes of a conversation they may have had prior, or a larger instance if someone had offered them a hand in a trying time, they may react entirely differently.

[ She wants to talk this out. ]
In the end, I do want my hard work to account for something and to help people, but it's hard to see that result sometimes.
[ ... ]
If we are here to shape the universe, what are you here for?
no subject
Is that so? Then perhaps we may speak about it at length tomorrow, if you are still interested in hearing it.
[BUT THAT'S FOR LATER]
Hmm... I have reason to believe at the conclusion of this, the results will be very evident.
The two of us are merely here to act as your guides... while we do not possess every answer, we have at least dwelled here slightly longer than you have, and have been tasked with different responsibilities.
no subject
I'll follow up tomorrow.
[ She keeps her appointments. ]
What are your responsibilities?
no subject
[maybe you can convince lune later, for now they'll appear to hold that set of cards a little closer to the chest]
They are merely words at the moment - but we cannot interfere with anything that could cause any of you harm, or provide you protection either. Consider us removed from your immediate choices and we cannot interfere, though we are open if you require a listening ear.
no subject
I see. I will keep that in mind. Thank you for answering my questions.
no subject
May I help in any other way?
no subject
You won't be against more questions over tea, would you?
no subject

[ ... ]
You will be able to found. Won't you?
no subject
I believe that tomorrow there will be some number of changes to your surroundings... One of them will include following the light on the river - you may send us a note that way, and we will be able to receive it.
