The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.



Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

The core's unstable and we don't know how bad it's going to get yet, so we think you were probably brought here to help us figure it out. Okay?

The core of what? And how are we supposed to fix it?

The core of the universe. The way to fix it is to decide how to control the darkness and direct it to an ending you can all agree on. We don't know how dangerous it is yet, but we were all brought here to find out before it was too late.

[unfriendliest]

[ the more you say, the less sense you make. ]

And what we were doing before doesn't matter to any of you?

The universe must have had bigger ideas for you. But...what were you doing before?

[ oh that was the wrong thing to say. the universe has bigger ideas for them? bigger ideas?? bigger than protecting history? bigger than protecting the family that treasured him?? there's. sparks starting to flicker at his fingertips, but somehow he doesn't noticed when he's focused in on sol. the only other indications of how infuriating that statement is would be narrowed eyes and a tighter grip on his sword.

but he's not attacking anyone yet, so we're fine. probably. ]

Protecting history.

[ except, you know, they hadn't gotten there yet. because of... this. ]

[Even with that, Sol doesn't move an inch. The figure holds their ground, watching Kara and replying with an even tone even as the flames flicker.]

And without a universe, there's no history to protect, is there? [It's hard to say if this is an antagonizing statement or a real question.]

[ it sounds like both to ookurikara so fuck you and your logic. ]

I don't care about your "core." Find someone else. We have more important things to do than wait around for you.

[cyclists]

[This is about the point people will notice a distinct difference between Sol and Lune and it's that Sol has little patience sometimes. ]

Listen. We aren't the ones who brought you here, we're just the ones acting on their behalf. You don't think we had things to be doing too?

[There's a tinge of anger and stress there but it's fine. ]

[ who let kara talk to the one with the temper smh

he actually doesn't care what you or anyone else was doing before they came here, the hypocrite. he just cares that the head of the family he cares most about could be fighting the revisionists right now, without anyone there to protect him. and that is unacceptable. ]

Then tell them to send us back.

Like they'll listen! [...] We told them that we would help make things right here, but we didn't choose you ourselves. Don't you get it? The only way anyone can go back is when things are finished here.

unfortunately this means those sparks? are growing into little baby flames as ookurikara anger grows. that's bad, probably. ]

If you're so powerless, what's the point of even having you here?

[They sure are. Those flames still aren't registering and Sol might just be outright ignoring them.]

Who said anything about being powerless?

[Oh. That is absolutely a challenge.]

so does kara, actually, but he's not one to back down from such an obvious challenge. he doesn't say a word, just shifts his stance and.

draws his sword.

[ you know sometimes you're having a good time chatting with your captors on a sunday evening and everything is going fine? you're still captured, but like, it's a chill day? and then you look slightly to your left and see

whatever this bullshit is

tsurumaru will suddenly be here, stepping at kara's side and placing a hand on his forearm. ]

Ookurikara.

[cyclists]

[tmw when your conversation goes so off the rails that you manage to pull from an entirely separate conversation to keep things from going sideways

because lune and tsuru are looking over at the same time, and lune will be similarly stepping to sol's side, placing a light hand atop the hood. a gentle weight, to both gather attention and ground]

Young one.

A time and place for all things.

[cyclists]

[Sol is 100% ready to throw down, shifting into a fighter's stance when Lune and also someone else show up. They learn the guy's name (Ookurikara) and they're about to reply when Lune speaks up. There's a weight on their head and suddenly the tension stops as they pause uncertainly.]

But...[...Lune, of course, is right, and while it's still frustrating they back down.] Whatever.

[They'll behave for now.]

[ speak for yourself. there's a flare of anger when tsurumaru dares to interrupt. didn't he hear what sol said? fuck this guy! he's not done with sol, not by any means, but if both lune and tsuru are stepping in and he's backing down... fine.

FINE.

but he's not happy about it. he sheaths the sword with an annoyed sound and turns away.

and hey, congrats on still not noticing that he's on fire. but it's calming down, little by little, so there's that. ]

[Have fun being on fire, Kara. Sol's going to continue ignoring it and watch him walk away.]
