The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.



Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

Yes. If I am disrespectful to someone just because they've been disrespectful to me, doesn't that lower me to their level?

[ She shakes her head. ]

I don't want that.

That just means you let bad people get away with doing bad stuff.

But I guess some people aren't good at sticking up for themselves.

That's not quite it. I'd like to speak with them first and foremost, and if no agreement can be made, then I'll take a stand.

What could they say that would make this okay, to you?

[ she sounds genuinely curious, at least. ]

It depends. First, they'd have to show up. I try to be an understanding individual, so what their circumstances are matter. If it isn't important, of course it wouldn't be okay, but if they are in dire need of some help, I would listen.

What do you think they could need from you? Something they couldn't do on their own, while still being able to have brought all of us here.

[forefall]

What do you think we all have in common? It'd have to be that, would it? It wouldn't make sense if it were random.

Judging by our profiles? Not a whole lot.

[ She sighs. ]

I wouldn't put much stock into our profiles. Would you stand by yours?

[specialdog]

Sure. It seems fine.

What's wrong with yours?

[forefall]

It listed something strange under my age. And I don't nag.

[ Those were rude, if confusing. ]

[ Akane makes a mental note to check it out later because she's curious but doesn't think it'll make a great impression to ask about it... ]

People always call it nagging, but doesn't it just mean that someone didn't listen the first time? That's on them.

[forefall]

[ That answer makes her brighten. ]

People don't usually see it that way, but you're right. I only repeat myself because they don't listen the first time. I don't want people to endanger themselves.

[specialdog]

They used the wrong word for it. They should have just said that you're responsible.

[forefall]

[ Can't believe Akane got Four's number so fast. ]

Yes, that's right! I am. All I want to do is help where I can.

[specialdog]

[ she's working REAL hard to make good first impressions ]

Maybe you can leave an IOU in the shop and come back to pay when someone is there.

[ It started out a little rough, but Akane is getting there.

Four looks a little thoughtful before she shakes her head. ]

No. It's all right. It's not something I need or anything. I was just looking, but... thank you for trying to offer a solution.

Akane shrugs ]

Suit yourself. [ she says, despite also not having? taken anything from the boutique? oh well. ] At least it's not freezing or anything - it's not like we're desperate for jackets.
