INTRO LOG
Week Zero
32 in Competition
32 in Competition
The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.
A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.
Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.
Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.
It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.

Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.
Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

I'm sorry, I don't know. I don't think we're dead, though.
no subject
You don't? [he sits up a little bit straighter, with a bit of the blanket actually slipping down, now]
So... we're alive? [how can he match that up with the thoughts swirling through his birdie head right now]
M- Maybe, were we abducted by aliens?!
no subject
Sorry, what?
no subject
[sorry, what]
Alien technology must be even more advanced that bird technology, s- so that explains why I'm not hurting anymore!
no subject
Were you in pain before this?
no subject
[sorry, just an aside, he has to note that]
But, um- yes. Before I came here I was... s- sure I was going to die.
no subject
Why is that? Unless it's too difficult for you to answer.
no subject
[he looks up at his house invader, who he really knows nothing about, except that he's looking for a tablet and he might play games]
... I'm not really good at anything. [he droops his head, looking at the piece of paper]
But, well, I was... scared... even if I was useless and no one would miss me, I was too scared to...
[it's not really a direct answer, it's meandering and given between a bunch of pauses, and it seems like he still has trouble putting it to words]
no subject
Life is precious, and you only have your own. It's natural to hold onto it.
[keeping it vague since he doesn't know exactly what the bird's deal is, but he can make a few varied guesses.
and, uh. he's going to try and very gently pat the bird (under the blankets??) unless it seems like this is going freak him out.]
no subject
... Sorry... I'm bothering you with this when you're looking for something important...
[and the home invader is even being nice and patting his head! and he's just- talking. and he's not even talking well. he's stammering and trailing off and mumbling. and he can't even offer to help look for the tablet because he knows he'd be useless out there, too.]
no subject
so he just continues patting the bird softly in an attempt to let him know it's all right.]
no subject
[the silence is strangely comforting although, really, kazuaki doesn't know how to break it. should he say he's fine so this stranger can move on? should he ask this stranger to stay? should he-]
Um... ... what's your name, mister?
no subject
Shess. And yours?
no subject
[as if it's bold to assume the no-longer-a-stranger home invader would care to remember him name]
no subject
Kazuaki, then. It's nice to meet you.
no subject
[Something about that simple phrase on a piece of paper makes him really emotional. Maybe it's the fact he's just on an emotional roller coaster in and of itself.]
[oh ok he's crying again]
no subject
shess doesn't know what's going on so he's just going to pat the bird again???]
no subject
... do you think they have soda here...? I sh- should stay... hydrated...
no subject
no subject
... u-um- maybe! Maybe your tablet is there, too! I can look for it!
[it's a long shot but He's Trying]
no subject
I'd be grateful for the help.
no subject
[he hops up to his feet which- well, doesn't make the pile of blankets much larger, actually]
no subject
[or do you want the pile of paper for some reason......]
no subject
Is it okay if I keep... one or two?
no subject
[but he feels about... littering in this random house...]
