The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.



Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

I guess. But most people here didn't notice they had new powers, either.

So, what, we just ... hang around this world and fight if it comes up? Is that the whole plan?

[cyclists]

For now. We watch over this place, check to see how far the darkness is spreading, and come up with a solution. It wasn't our plan. Not really.

[leaberator]

[ who came up with this plan, yen sid ]

I'd hope not. That's not really a plan, y'know? That's more like damage control.

[cyclists]

Oh yeah? What kind of plan would you come up with then?

[leaberator]

Not one where you bring in a bunch of random people with no clue, for one thing. That's a pretty bad start to any plan.

[cyclists]

Tell that to the universe. We were called here without a lot of warning, too.

[leaberator]

Take it from a person who's worked against and with the universe on a lotta things: it doesn't care what you tell it.

[ axel, please. ]

So you don't know why any of us in particular, including yourselves, or how we're supposed to succeed, or pretty much anything helpful. What do you know for sure, except that the darkness is moving in?

[cyclists]

None of us can leave until one specific condition is met, which is deciding what to do about the darkness itself. That includes Lune and me.

[leaberator]

So we're all trapped. [ well that's. about what he expected, but also. why. ] How long have we got? To decide.

[cyclists]

We have a little time. Weeks at least. The instability's just starting to show, and Lune and I are looking into other things. Once we have more information we can help decide. I hope.

[leaberator]

You really lost the reassuring speech once you got to the last part of it, but good try. [ sol this is so sad. ] What kinda darkness are we talking about, here? 'Cause from experience, worlds falling to the darkness was bad, but not all darkness is.

That's what we're still studying. We were called here to get a better handle on the situation, but the universe decided that we couldn't be involved in its conclusion. So far it's a tamable darkness, but depending on how the participants here handle it...it could turn bad.

[leaberator]

Did the universe talk to you guys about this, or is it just a vague feeling it's giving you?

[ because it sounds insane. he has to believe it because of how kh is, but it's still insane. ]

[cyclists]

Something like that. We were doing other things before we came here, and we agreed to help but...I don't think we knew it'd be like this.

[leaberator]

Well, hey, you got one over the rest of us if you're here voluntarily. False pretenses or not.

[ ... is he trying to mock them or cheer them up ]

[cyclists]

[You're trying buddy.]

Yeah. I guess you're right. [There's another pause, but Sol seems to change their mind.]

I'm going to find more answers. Me and Lune both. So...just wait. Okay?

[leaberator]

[ he blinks a bit, taken aback. ]

...Sure? [ -- wait, no, what is he saying? he shakes his head ] Waiting around's not really my style, though. You said we had to figure stuff out for ourselves too, so I'll do that. It can't be that hard.

[ this false confidence will lead to axel dying first ]

[cyclists]

[There's a mumble under Sol's breath, but oh well.]

Let me know if you find something interesting. You know. If it's really not that hard.

[leaberator]

Will do, boss.

[ you don't gotta make it sound so mocking ]

And how about you do the same when you find out something interesting?

[cyclists]

[RUDE.]

Whatever. [Somehow Sol doesn't sound that annoyed though.] We'll be back sooner than later anyway.

[leaberator]

Where do you guys go? Since you're not sticking around with the rest of us.

[cyclists]

[Love that you and Francy both asked this simultaneously.]

We have somewhere we're staying. [Sol can answer that much at least.] It's closer than you think.

[leaberator]

What, like a secret room?

[cyclists]

Is it really a secret if I say it's a secret?

[leaberator]

Sorry, sorry... A hidden room.
