The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.



Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

Yes. There are noble demons and those that scoff at the notion of it.

Yes. There's a president that runs the corrupterment.

That name honestly doesn't inspire many feelings of nobility within me.

The demon government must sound appropriately demonic. Otherwise how are any demons going to trust in them? Though dissenters are usually met with force.

[ He's just saying things that are confirming her preconceived notions? ]

Have you been met with force?

Multiple times, but that's the way the corrupterment works. You can do more with force.

[forefall]

That doesn't sound very reasonable, but I suppose they don't mean to be reasonable.

[omegathree]

It's reasonable to us.

[To other demons, anyway.]

If you can overpower them you can run the corrupterment. Not that I'd like to do that.

Then, I suppose it's better for us captives that you're here instead of your compatriots.

[ Or whatever you'd call fellow demons. ]

They're not part of my party.

[Though it probably is a good thing a specific person who is part of his party is not here.

A fellow demon is like a fellow human, basically.]

You understand we're all captive at the moment. That includes me.

[forefall]

Yes, but we're all still different. If a demon who didn't uphold their agreements like you were here instead of you, wouldn't I have more reason to worry?

[ You know, beyond the fact that they've all been kidnapped to this foreign wherever? ]

[There's a little pause as he considers what may have happened if any other demon he knew would have shown up here.]

Very well, I'll concede that point.

[forefall]

[ She smiles. She feels a bit validated. Thanks, Val. ]

Anyone can be a danger, but I don't want to fling accusations unnecessarily.

[omegathree]

I have no doubts about the relative danger of those who were brought to this place.

There was somebody with assassination on their scroll. That doesn't mean they'll start doing that here.

[In other words, he's simply keeping an open mind.]

It also doesn't mean they can't, and it's not like every piece of information has been given on those scrolls.

[ She frowns. ]

I hope we can leave before we have to find out if anyone will start.

I would've revealed anything that was there.

[But he also doesn't really have much experience with deceit.]

How long do you think it would take before they turn to that?

I don't know. I suppose it depends how easily the others get cabin fever.

[omegathree]

I've never been trapped somewhere with so many humans. I have no way to gauge something like that.

[forefall]

Humans can be as different as demons are. We'll have to see.

[ But she's not human either, so who knows how much stock can be put in her words? ]
