The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.

Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

We were probably all specially chosen because we're interesting. Right? Unless it really was just random. But who would go through all this trouble for random people...?

Right! [ why does he sound like a proud teacher for a second ] It'd be pretty weird to just grab a bunch of people at random and shove them into a whole new world without any thought or reasoning behind it. So we must've all been picked for a reason.

Then what really matters is what that reason is...

Yep! [ ... a beat, then he sighs ] Not that I can think of any potential reason that'd be good, but let's go one step at a time.

Maybe they needed renovators.

[ she's probably joking... who knows... ]

Not to steal someone else's catchphrase, but they really picked the wrong guy for that one if that's the case.

[ he gestures vaguely at the village ]

Besides, aside from the whole trapped thing, this place doesn't look too bad.

[ she laughs because samesies. ] I'm good for the inspiration, but not the physical labor part... Well, it was just a guess.

This place is nice, but I wish it had wi-fi or cell service, you know?

[ that reminds him... he takes out his gummiphone from his pocket with a frown ]

Yeah, it'd be real useful to have. Which is probably why there's not any.

[ Akane laughs ]

Cute phone case. [ she assumes! it's kind of cartoony for a big tall guy like him but

well, then again, his hair is pretty cartoony, too. ]

[ he looks at it with a bewildered look. he seems embarrassed by the compliment, somehow? ]

Uh. Thanks? It's not really a case, that's just... what it looks like.

[ because it was made by chipmunks. ]

Really...?

[ Akane takes out her own phone to show him what?? a normal iphone looks like??? ]

[ he peers at it ]

Woah, nice and sleek. Kinda makes me jealous!

I'm the one that's jealous. I keep meaning to get a cute case for it. They make ones with bunny ears and stuff...

[ also maybe it would have protected her phone from whatever cracked its screen. ]

[ he taps her screen lightly ]

Might want to just get a case in general. It looks like yours went through some trouble.

I've dropped it once or twice. I can be clumsy.

The ground. That poor phone's toughest enemy. [ he nods like what he said was sage instead of stupid ] Hey, if you're gonna get a cute case, you might as well go all out. You said you want the bunny one, right? Get it your favorite color and everything. Betcha the ground will have nothing on your phone then.

[ what is he even saying ]

[ she nods along as if she has been deeply moved by this wisdom... ]

What I really want is one with spikes like a cool looking monster. But they don't make that kind of merch very often.

[ oh no. now he's into it ]

So you want a really cool case. Spikes... What else? Go wild. It's your dream case.

Hmm, well, I'd probably want it to be purple.

Something simple is best, otherwise it starts to get kind of inconvenient.

Spiky and purple, huh... Tell you what, I see anything like that lying around here, and I'll give you a heads up. Maybe this whole mess won't be a total loss for you then.
