Week Seven
13 in Competition

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Sol who speaks up first this time.

"Morning. As usual, you guys were a big help in purging the darkness that lingered in the gateway from last week. We'll take it from here." There's a pause. "...we've got a new one for you, but there's something really weird about it. It's even larger than the last, so be careful when you're out there."

When Sol finishes, Lune picks up where they left off.

"Would it be odd to say that I believe you are all doing well? Your growth has been admirable.... Have heart as you continue to move forward."

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

In addition, as the week goes on, everyone will find that somewhere on their person, a small word is printed displaying their most prominent trait. Though they may not agree, or even realize it, this is a trait that most strongly defines them and over the week this trait will slowly become amplified.

[he's ducking, because he doesn't want to look stupid trying to catch it and failing or getting hit with it if it can make contact.]

[Gestures at the mountain, shrouded in darkness and all.]

We need to purify this place before the end of today. Apparently... you guys are allowed to help us. Can I count on you?

[wagashis]

You chose an interesting person to count on for this.

[a dubious look at both her and the mountain, there.]

But if I'm here, I may as well.

[televised]

Did you want to stay on the other side with Hisoka?

[Since they're summoning everyone but Hisoka up until like, 10 minutes before they leave? Cursed.]

We just have to find a bunch of babies. You'll be free to do [...] whatever, before you know it.

[wagashis]

Not particularly. I suppose I can't fault your decision if it means I'm here, can I.

[even if he's still questioning it internally.]

If they're young, they can't have gotten very far. Any particular direction you had in mind?

[televised]

Besides up? [Well...] The beach is closest to the bottom of the mountain. We might as well start there.

[wagashis]

Lead on, then. You're more familiar with this place than I am.

[he's down with the beach, naturally. at least his element might prove useful, if he can use it here... well, he'll have to find out.]

[televised]

Alright.

[Onwards, then! North will glance back as she begins to move, making sure he's following, before focusing on the path.]

Do your powers still work? Or did they disappear after you were killed?

[wagashis]

...I'm unsure I can fully answer that, but-

[he takes a moment to focus, conjuring a globe of water in his palm, and nods.]

It seems I do have them here. That's the most important part.

[televised]

You can't fully answer that, because...? Is it related to whatever is on the other side?

[... Well. She doesn't expect a straight answer without him risking glitching out. It's good enough that he has his water manipulation?]

[wagashis]

I'm not sure how much I can get away with saying about things over there. Best to err on the side of caution-- it's not exactly pleasant, otherwise.

[he'd like to not glitch again, that was weird.

along the way, he's at least keeping an eye out for any sign of... well, he doesn;t know what these babies look like, so. small creatures of some kind.]

No... I can imagine. Lili showed up and immediately bugged out.

[rest in fucking pieces, lili.]

Just be ready to use your water manipulation as soon as we get to the beach. I saw some kind of creature in the water when I checked this place out yesterday.

[wagashis]

It shouldn't be a problem, between both of us.

[especially with one of them being water aligned. how bad could creatures here be, after everything else they've all run into?

nothing like what they're looking for shows up along the way, but it sounds like there's movement further down the beach, maybe a splash to go along with it; shirasu's heading that direction.]

[televised]

[Well.

This is fine.

North follows him, keeping an eye on the shore as they go. Eventually, they come across... something? Sharp and pointy? Moving in the water.

It doesn't seem to have noticed them yet.]

Do you see that?

[wagashis]

...I do.

[he observes it for another few moments, then gives her a sidelong glance, a faint grin tugging at his mouth.]

Shall we surprise whatever it is?

[he's already half-focused; if she says she's ready, he's apparently got an idea.]

[televised]

[She glances at him when he speaks up, assessing the expression on his face... before she nods. Not quite sure what he has in mind, but?]

Well, what are we waiting for?

[She's ready, man.]

[wagashis]

Strike fast, then.

[because he's reaching out with both hands to gesture, using his water manipulation to just-- shove away the water surrounding whatever creature's holding that weapon, and leaving it flopping down onto the now-exposed ocean floor.

there's still walls of water around it that it can maybe just dive back into, but for the moment it's surprised by suddenly dropping onto the ground like this... also it's wearing flippers from the looks of it? so. doesn't look super maneuverable.]

[televised]

[HM.

Here is to hoping the divermon isn't extremely susceptible to lava, because North's immediate reaction is to take aim and fire with her elemental manipulation. Her intent is to disarm and injure, but also? Who knows how the fuck these creatures work? Not North, that's for sure.

TL;DR godspeed, scuba dude... It may or may not be getting smacked with a ball of lava on its yaoi hands depending on how quickly it manages to move.]

[let's be perfectly real, neither does shirasu and neither do i, we are Making Shit Up here.

if she's aiming to disarm and injure, though... how about a nice lava ball smack on the yaoi hand clutching its weapon, leaving it yelping and dropping the trident for the moment. it would probably be a good time to strike again.

what shirasu actually does is just... reaching out with his manipulation so that a brief wave comes loose from the water wall and pushes the creature's weapon further away. it can either go for it, or it can try to escape, but it leaves it more vulnerable again.

listen, this thing lives in water, he's not going to try to kill it with water and he didn't bring a weapon. he's helping.]

[that's so valid.

The creature moves to escape, but North quickly fires another lava ball in its direction. This time, aiming at its heels before it can get too far. Shirasu is, indeed, helping. But—]

Think you can drag it over to us somehow? There's something I'd like to try.

[wagashis]

Mm... let's see. It's a little more difficult if this creature's aquatic in nature, but...

[with another gesture of each hand, two things happen. first, the walls of water come crashing back down; second, before it can escape, a tendril of water wraps firmly around one of its ankles. shirasu moves that water rope back above the surface, leaving the poor thing dangling as it thrashes, and pulls it closer.]

There we are. Good enough?

[with its weapon still on the ocean floor, it can't try to just yeet the thing at them, so.]

[televised]

[LIGHTLY:]

Perfect. Thanks.

[And then

she pulls out a knife, coating it in lava so she can hold it up to the creatures throat.]

If you can talk, now would be a good time to start blabbing.

[wagashis]

[kyuu please i have no idea how these things talk! what's a speech pattern! i'm sleepy i don't fuckin know.

but the poor digimon is absolutely flailing and protesting, trying to lean away from the lava knife... it definitely wants to know what they want and especially why the knife is lava?]

I'm afraid you're not going anywhere until you tell us where we can find the babies.

[the water rope goes a little slack, then tightens again, basically bungee-cording this poor thing they're bullying.]

[BAD COP AND BAD COP INTENSIFIES...

The knife glows a little brighter, as North purposefully turns up the heat when the creature doesn't immediately spill the beans. It starts going off about their instructions, and how they were asked to keep the babies hidden, and so forth. But nobody ain't got no time for that, so.]

You know, we could always kill you and find someone else to talk to. Are you sure your instructions are that important?

[Someone save divermon.]

[wagashis]

Ah, well. It was worth trying. But if this one has nothing useful to say...

[shirasu gestures for north to go ahead and use that knife.

i'm. does this count as a good trait? teamwork? they're using teamwork and that helps even though they're absolutely being terrible to this creature??

we're going to go with that.

it finally decides that actually, no, the instructions are not more important than not being lava-knifed, and gestures in the appropriate direction. there should be a rock formation sheltering them and keeping them hidden and please it doesn't want to be sliced AND cooked like bread.]
