Week Seven

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Sol who speaks up first this time.

"Morning. As usual, you guys were a big help in purging the darkness that lingered in the gateway from last week. We'll take it from here." There's a pause. "...we've got a new one for you, but there's something really weird about it. It's even larger than the last, so be careful when you're out there."

When Sol finishes, Lune picks up where they left off.

"Would it be odd to say that I believe you are all doing well? Your growth has been admirable.... Have heart as you continue to move forward."

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

In addition, as the week goes on, everyone will find that somewhere on their person, a small word is printed displaying their most prominent trait. Though they may not agree, or even realize it, this is a trait that most strongly defines them and over the week this trait will slowly become amplified.

[ they doubt they can say more than that, though. A look of vague guilt rests on their face, but they don't bother trying to explain. ]

What happened to me didn't matter... But you matter, Shess. Not just to me, but -- [ they glitch out, slightly, and they shake their head, disgruntled. ]

Whatever it is, I'll find a way to endure. Don't worry.

Do you mean that?

[ they look up at him, quiet, eyes searching for something. ]

Or are you just trying to soothe me?

[nonbelligerent]

Well, depending on what the universe throws at us, I can't promise I'll survive. No one can.

But I'm not afraid of ordeals.

[globs]

... Mm.

[ they seem satisfied enough by that answer. ]

I'll be watching over you, but protecting yourself is up to you. Not that you need my protection... [ clearly, they weren't very good at it, seeing as they're talking to him from the other side. They link their hands together behind their back demurely. ] ... If there's something you want, though, you can ask. Maybe I can get it for you. Even if it's just information. Or... even if you just want someone to listen... If you want.

[nonbelligerent]

... Thank you. All I can ask right now, though, is that you keep trying. For yourself, and for this world.

[globs]

... What about for you?

[ they mumble, mercury vibrating at a low hum. ]

[nonbelligerent]

Hearing from you when you can afford to spare a message would make me happy.

[globs]

Well... If that's all you want... I guess I can do that.

[ they have to be cool and pretend they aren't going to send him messages all the time!! ]

What should I write about...?

[nonbelligerent]

Well, info is always nice, but I do get that from others... How you're doing, what you're up to, things like that?

[globs]

... Okay. I'll do it.

[ a small nod. ]

There's not much there, though... I met the white one who died. And I had to explain my eyes to your partner.

[nonbelligerent]

They're both good people to speak to. I hope you can be friendly with them.

[globs]

You knew him? He was gone so early on.

[ obviously, they know he and miki were friends. ]

[nonbelligerent]

We talked. I met his chicken.

And we've messaged often ever since receiving those devices.

[globs]

Really?

[ they're quiet for a second or two. ]

... There's still so much I didn't know.

[nonbelligerent]

I didn't talk about it much with most.

[globs]

... Rather than that, there are a lot of things I never tried to find out.

[ a rare moment of admitting to fault in their own behavior, as far as socializing goes. ]

Not just about you, but about everything here. I was too scared... I still am.

[nonbelligerent]

You've been taking steps forward, though. I'm very happy about that.

[globs]

[ as always, they falter under his praise, glancing off as their cheeks darken. ]
