Week Seven
13 in Competition

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Sol who speaks up first this time.

"Morning. As usual, you guys were a big help in purging the darkness that lingered in the gateway from last week. We'll take it from here." There's a pause. "...we've got a new one for you, but there's something really weird about it. It's even larger than the last, so be careful when you're out there."

When Sol finishes, Lune picks up where they left off.

"Would it be odd to say that I believe you are all doing well? Your growth has been admirable.... Have heart as you continue to move forward."

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

In addition, as the week goes on, everyone will find that somewhere on their person, a small word is printed displaying their most prominent trait. Though they may not agree, or even realize it, this is a trait that most strongly defines them and over the week this trait will slowly become amplified.

[ as much as he wanted to like akane, he can't do it, after she'd killed for such a petty reason. ]

So what do you plan to do, now that you're here?

... I don't know. Someone brought me here for a reason, right?

They probably just wanted to see you again.

[ he has an idea who, too, but that's not really his business. ]

[globs]

[ after a few blinks, they glance away, arms folding over their chest. ]

That would be a first.

[unfriendliest]

[ his head tilts ]

You don't think even Shess would want to?

[globs]

[ They like Shess a lot more than Shess likes them. They're convinced of this; they're sure there are other people he'd rather see, too. Their self-worth is that low!! Of course, they don't say any of this aloud. They just wrinkle their nose at Kuri, sounding dismissive. ]

What do you know about Shess?

[unfriendliest]

[ haha what ]

I know that he was the first to volunteer to look into where you died. He was the one who knew the gun was Akane's. If he hadn't been there, we may not have known that.

[globs]

... He did all that?

[ they didn't see it, of course. ]

... He's smart, so it's no surprise...

[unfriendliest]

Yeah.

[ is he just answering them or agreeing? who knows. ]

Akane confessed easily enough, after that. Bringing her to justice wasn't a hard decision.

[globs]

[ they're quiet for a moment. Are they happy that she died for what she did? Cinnabar doesn't think they are. But maybe that's what had to happen. A quiet nod. ]

... I'm glad you did.

[unfriendliest]

So am I. There's no sense in someone so petty making decisions for all of us.

[ like he isn't also a petty bitch

but he knows cinna can't talk about that so, moving on ]

Are you going to help with the mission they gave us?

[globs]

[ a pause. Cinnabar looks hesitant, glancing down at their hands. ]

... I don't know. This body of mine will probably hurt more than help, trying to handle delicate things like eggs and larvae...

[unfriendliest]

[ kara nods because that makes sense. he wouldn't want to risk it, either. ]

Then you should talk to them when we bring them back - like you did with the shark. They might like to have company while we look for the rest of them.

[globs]

M-me?

[ taking care of young animals?! It sounds so directly opposed to what their job should be... they blink in surprise at Kara. ]

[unfriendliest]

Why not? You seemed to like the shark. All you'd have to do is watch them, and talk to them while we search for the others.

[globs]

B-but the shark was... That was different. There has to be someone better suited for a job like that than me.

[unfriendliest]

Maybe. I wouldn't know. But it's one way for you to help out, and you wouldn't necessarily have to touch them, just keep them company for a while.

[globs]

... Well... I guess I can do that. If you think I should.

[ they fidget awkwardly, but... one gets the sense they're actually rather happy about being given work to do. ]

Yeah, you should. That we'll know someone's with them, so they don't run away again.
