Week Seven

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Sol who speaks up first this time.

"Morning. As usual, you guys were a big help in purging the darkness that lingered in the gateway from last week. We'll take it from here." There's a pause. "...we've got a new one for you, but there's something really weird about it. It's even larger than the last, so be careful when you're out there."

When Sol finishes, Lune picks up where they left off.

"Would it be odd to say that I believe you are all doing well? Your growth has been admirable.... Have heart as you continue to move forward."

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

In addition, as the week goes on, everyone will find that somewhere on their person, a small word is printed displaying their most prominent trait. Though they may not agree, or even realize it, this is a trait that most strongly defines them and over the week this trait will slowly become amplified.

You have. [It's simply that.] It's fine to be a little angry. We have something in common. [It's fine. Hisoka is aware of the dodge, but that's what makes it more entertaining.

Why is it that, no matter where one goes, there's always people like you.

Anger itself accomplishes nothing important. There's little point in holding on to it needlessly.

[ instead you vent it into things that don't matter, or maybe things that do, and carry on. ]

The world wouldn't be half as interesting with so many like you instead.

I'm sure you and I both never let anger make us stupid. Right? It's a good motivator. [That cold, icy, quiet anger. The one that bubbles below the surface.] You wind it up, and then you let it out.

Perhaps half the problem is that you need it to be interesting in the first place.

[ yes, them being boring is exactly why hisoka bothers the teens around here so much. ]

Don't compare the two of us based on something so common. Anger is universal, for better or worse. But you... Your life is your own. You live for yourself, don't you?

Oh, absolutely. Nothing is as magnificent as living for yourself. Restraints just hold you back from becoming the strongest you can be.

[Attachments? Love, friends, family. All those are meaningless when death comes anyway. Right?]

And from doing what you want to do.

What point is strength without something to use it for?

[ he doesn't scoff, but it's a very near thing. ]

The world is cruel, and people are weak. Neither of those things is a new concept. But go ahead, tell me. What is it that you think I want to do?

[Both brows rise.]

I don't really care what you want to do. [Both hands spread a moment even if they glitch.] The question is: what you want to do, are you going to do it?

Otherwise, there's no point. Not even talking about it. Just... do it.

[ His own brows also rise, and he lets out an almost breathless, incredulous sort of laugh. ]

What, is that all? All that, just to be the voice on my shoulder I've been ignoring since my teens?

It's reasonable. Who is stopping you? What is stopping you? Rules? What people think?

Does any of that even matter?

Me. I'm what's stopping myself.

[ julius... is not chaotic enough for this. ]

Maybe you're right. When you're in a place where none of that matters, and nothing you do will bear any repercussion for you, rules and what people might think can't really be things that stop people at all. If we kill and do deplorable things in a place like this, separate from any world we know, no one would know what we'd done if we return.

If we go back to a home that doesn't know any better, who's left to judge us but ourselves?

Oh. I wasn't talking about just this world. You can do what you like in any world. Sometimes, it's fun to play by the rules, but rules are made up by other people. Who really can say they know what's best for everyone?

Just like here. People thought they knew what was best, but that isn't true, isn't it? Now you know.

It sounds as if you may judge yourself too harshly.

[Familiar.]

If no one can judge me but me, then how can you say whether or not I'm judging myself too harshly?

But you're wrong, though. In assuming it's rules and social mores that stop me.

[ he fiddles a little, with the glove on his hand. ]

It's knowing that for all that other people are flawed in their perceptions and judgments, I'm still one of them too, subject to the same biases and failures of reason. And you are too. At the end of the day, we all want what we want.

[wildc4rd]

[It still doesn't seem like an excuse not to go hog-wild. Or that maybe they are actually agreeing anyway.]

No one else will give you want you really want. You have to take it.

Who's to say I haven't been doing that and not liked the person I was as a result?

[ are they agreeing? is julius playing devil's advocate? ]

I don't have the right to demand things of others. If it's something that would likely involve them, then the only thing to do is work around it.
