Week Seven
13 in Competition

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Sol who speaks up first this time.

"Morning. As usual, you guys were a big help in purging the darkness that lingered in the gateway from last week. We'll take it from here." There's a pause. "...we've got a new one for you, but there's something really weird about it. It's even larger than the last, so be careful when you're out there."

When Sol finishes, Lune picks up where they left off.

"Would it be odd to say that I believe you are all doing well? Your growth has been admirable.... Have heart as you continue to move forward."

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

In addition, as the week goes on, everyone will find that somewhere on their person, a small word is printed displaying their most prominent trait. Though they may not agree, or even realize it, this is a trait that most strongly defines them and over the week this trait will slowly become amplified.

[ let's not. go into details. anyway off they go deeper in the forest ]

Keep an eye out for more of those eggs! It looks like they just got scattered all over.

[blackcoats]

[ as they trek deeper into the woods, she looks down at the cooing creature in her arms with a curious tilt of her head. ]

Do you think they'd know where the other eggs are? Like... how some animals can find each other by scent or something like that? If they can, that would be a ton of help for us.

[leaberator]

Could be. Might as well ask 'em? [ he turns to face her and the bundle of baby in her arms ] Hey, little guy. Think you know where the rest of the eggs are?

[ this was a critical mistake, because cocomon wriggles out of xion's arms with an excited cry and nyooms the fuck away deeper in to the forest. the one in axel's hoodie jumps out and follows after it. ]

-- Uh-oh. Catch 'em!

[blackcoats]

Whoa—h-hopefully that's a good sign! Wait for us!

[ GUESS WE'RE ON A WILD ORB CHASE NOW... xion feels a little guilty for not keeping a tighter hold on cocomon... IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO HER NEW BABY SHE WILL KILL EVERYONE IN THIS FOREST AND THEN HERSELF ]

[ he's running behind Xion and NO I WON'T KILL OFF THE BABY JFC

but i will speedrun through the forest to get to the mansion and the babies just kind of jumping up and down in front of the spooky doorway :) ]

... C'mon, we were already going there in the first place... did they have to... how do they even get around anyway?

[ HOW DO THEY BOUNCE SO MUCH THEY HAVE NO LEGS? ]

[ as a quick aside: ] There are some Heartless that don't have legs.

[ ANYWAY... as soon as they come upon the mansion, xion bends down and holds out her arms for either one of the bouncy balls to hop over to her... let her cuddle... ]

Good thing they didn't go inside... I don't want to think about what could've happened if we weren't around.

[leaberator]

Well, yeah, but they're darkness. We don't know what these things are.

[ except for adorable, because cocomon is going straight into xion's arms. the green one which is zerimon, however, seems to take that as a challenge and pushes open the door and slips inside. xion's ball blows out a bubble ]

... Xion, you jinxed it. What's with that ball?

[blackcoats]

[ NO!!! ]

W-wait, come back!

[ rising to her feet with cocomon tucked safely in her arms (she hopes), she starts to sprint inside. she doesn't even wait for axel to follow her, because when have his kids ever not been impulsive? ]

Come on, we have to make sure it doesn't get hurt!

[ and also maybe eggies?? ]

[leaberator]

We taught you guys about recon, but do you ever use it? Always running headfirst into trouble...

[ he could sound less exasperated yet fond as he steps into the manor Which I've Been Calling A Mansion By KH Habit This Whole Time behind her, looking around for both the missing digimon and. a some eggs, i guess.

they can hear the babble of the baby from up on the second floor. it sure goes fast... ]

What's with this place? Think someone actually lives here?

[ there is a high pitched laugh as he asks this.

ok cool ]

[ like owner (?) like digimon?? the giggle sends a chill up her spine for sure, but it probably would've freaked her out a lot more if 1) she hadn't been familiar with halloweentown and 2) hadn't already been having some pretty fucked up times the past seven weeks. ]

. . . Maybe not lives? [ searching for stairs is her priority right now... she looks down at the bubble blowing baby in her arms. ] Let's go find your brother... sister... um, twin!

[leaberator]

[ cocomon coos happily. that's about it. ]

Be careful. We don't know what's waiting for us in that room.

[ because i haven't rng'd it yet. he walks behind her as they go up the stairs, fire at the ready. one door is open just enough for a certain baby to pass through... ]

[blackcoats]

[ wow i would die for cocomon irl ]

... mm. If we put ourselves in danger, we put everyone in danger.

[ a surprisingly astute observation from someone who just busted into a creepy manor without hesitation... if only that wisdom extended to maybe not letting the half-blind girl be the one to slowly push the door open ]

[leaberator]

[ i rolled for like four different things so get ready.

The first thing Xion will see in the room is that it's a bedroom with eight beds and nothing else. On each bed is a single egg because I rolled a nat 20 on egg jackpot APPARENTLY. But I also rolled badly on the other thing, so there's also eight of these assholes, one cuddling each egg, sleeping soundly. They all snore in perfect sync. Zerimon is vibrating on the floor with sparkly eyes, and it sends out a few bubbles happily when it sees Xion and its sibling.

Cocomon sends bubbles back. It seems very lucky that they have decided not to coo words at each other, and it is, because again, I rolled for that.

Axel looks at the scene from behind Xion since he is So Tall and winces. in a whisper: ]

... Xion. Be very, very quiet.

[blackcoats]

[ oh. this is bad. she's glad to see zerimon, but she holds up her finger to her mouth in a "shh!" motion as she looks around the room, then up at axel. ]

... Do you think they'll be as nice as the other one if we wake them up and ask nicely?

[ a girl can hope,,, ]

[leaberator]

You really wanna test it?

[ Zerimon doesn't understand what this finger motion means. It has no fingers. Also, it's a dumb baby.

Which is why it jumps up on one of the beds to try and push at the egg in one of the redveggiemon's arms. cocomon attempts to wriggle out of xion's arms to go help? push the eggies! push the eggies to freedom!

if axel was allowed by disney, he would curse. ]

It's like it's doing it on purpose. Okay. Let's just... try and grab the eggs and the... uh, baby, and go.

[blackcoats]

[ BAB PLEASE... xion just squishes cocomon in her arms more securely. thank you for being more chill than your twin... ]

I can move faster and quieter than you... I can focus on trying to get it while you can grab the eggs?

[leaberator]

[ cocomon settles down, but it looks up at xion with the saddest look on its widdle face. let it push. let it free.

zerimon continues to push the egg. the redveggiemon snorts as it brushes its "arm". gotta move fast!! ]

Okay, okay. Go, and be careful. We don't wanna know what happens if these guys get mad.

[ axel goes on the other side of the room to try and nudge eggs out of the arms of giant tomato plants. xion, meanwhile, will have to attempt to cajole a baby to stop stealing eggs while holding another baby. this was a great plan ]

[blackcoats]

[ he made the mistake of, once again, trusting her not-very-well-thought-out "plan." tucking cocomon under one arm like a football, she holds out her other arm to its twin and makes a beckoning motion. ]

Both of you, please, you can play all you want once we've rescued your friends, okay? But that means we have to stop bothering the tomato monsters without waking them up...

[ can you be friends with unborn digimon. idk zerimon seemed pretty hyped about their existence so that's what xion's going with. ]

[leaberator]

[ Meanwhile, on his side of the room, Axel can see that on each bedside table is a single doll of a human child. ... Creepy. But you know what? Indiana Jones is a Disney property because life is a nightmare, so while Xion is doing whatever she's doing, Axel is going to be exchanging eggs for dolls in the most dramatic fashion ever.

Which means he can't see cocomon successfully wriggle out of Xion's football hold and jump onto Zerimon, giving the egg one final push out of the hold its in and basically launching it off the bed.

Does she catch the egg or does she go for the babies?? Vote now on your phones!! ]

[ oh i hate this

she at least successfully stops herself from crying out when cocomon leaps out of her hold, but she's definitely not agile enough to do both... she ends up rationalizing that the egg dropping on the ground would make more noise and also risk harming the baby inside, so eggie dive it is!

are the twins at least being silent and like not jumping on the tomato, can they at least give us that pittance ]

[leaberator]

[ Xion successfully catches the egg and doesn't make enough noise to wake up the Redveggiemon! The babies also just sit quietly on the bed and softly cheer at the exact same time the tomatoes all snore, making it a win.

we rolled really well.

Axel turns from where he's off to his second egg ]

... You okay?

[blackcoats]

[ GOD BLESS SOMEONE OUT THERE LOOKIN OUT FOR US... she stashes the egg in her cat pocket because i've decided she's wearing that today even though pumpkin spice is nowhere to be seen. let me have this? she very quickly (and gently) snatches both babies off the bed and keeps a firm hold :/ on both of them now :/ ]

Yeah...! These two are troublemakers, though... [ tiptoeing over to him as the babs blow happy bubbles... ] How do we get all of these back to the village? Do we drop the ones we can carry off and come back...?

[leaberator]

[ he has two eggs now and his arms are already pretty full. These are pretty big eggs... but there's five more. ]

... What if we look to see if there's anything we can use as a bag in this place real quick? Like a tablecloth or some extra covers. Then we don't risk the veggie crew waking up.

[ again, all they do is snore. stop rolling well, me!!! the babies are just excited to be near the eggs. i hate this make something terrible happen ]

[blackcoats]

Um... let me check...

[ she tiptoes over toward a closet i've just conveniently decided exists in this room, where she manages to find a couple of spare pillowcases. we definitely already have reached comment requirement but fuck it i want to see this through to the end, i am INVESTED in this egg quest now. ]

Here, catch, these should work...!

[ she throws one case to axel...... then grabs a third to stuff the twins into. it's fine? she's letting air inside the case? IT'S FINE DO DIGIMON EVEN NEED TO BREATHE IF THEY'RE JUST DATA GOD I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ]

[leaberator]

[ digimon do need to breathe! and eat! but you know what! let's not question it. axel successfully catches the pillowcases and starts stuffing eggs in them successfully. that should be all eight with both of them working, not a single redveggiemon awakened by it!

unfortunately the babies, unlike the eggs, do NOT appreciate being thrown in a pillowcase and start crying. loudly. they are WAILING in DESPAIR, fighting to get out of the pillowcase.

yeah we're rolling at a disadvantage here and that, the redveggiemon do hear. they start to wake up with very annoyed groans. axel winces both at the wailing and at the redveggiemon springing to attack. ]

Uh-oh. I think that's our cue! C'mon, let's go!

[ time to run u_u ]
