Week Seven: Trial

It may be difficult to sleep with the light shining so brightly throughout the night, but the participants can rest easy knowing they will not be plagued by unwanted, disturbing dreams. Early the next day, a bell chimes and all will feel compelled to enter the main meeting hall.

The hall looks mostly the same as it always has, the two thrones for Lune and Sol at the head of the room and scrolls hanging from the walls. The metal box sits on a table near the front, along with the glass boxes perfectly centered before the benches in the room. Now that the trial is in session, Squall, Kaoru, Grim Eyes and Milla's coffins are open, and their bodies will be available for examination.

Lune and Sol are seated in their thrones, patiently waiting for the last participant to settle. It's only when everyone has gathered that Sol speaks first. They hesitate less this week, looking back at Lune for a moment before they square their shoulders and face the participants again.

"It's going to be harder this week than last, especially with so few of you. But I'll be handling things today, so...please ask for whatever you need. I'll do my best."

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the seventh trial!

Things will proceed as normal, but for this trial and the next all NPC interactions will be via Sol while Dana is out of town! This means questions and locations will be handled by them.

We'll go over a few notes briefly as we will be playing this trial a bit differently than other games.

As noted, there was no investigation period on Friday. However, today participants will have the chance to investigate areas in the game setting as they see fit! This can be done by providing the name of the location you want to visit to the host header comment. To help with the ease of the trial and for IC mechanics, only one location may be visited at a time. In addition, these locations can be manipulated and adjusted upon request to test theories and solve puzzles, so please feel free to ask if you're searching for clues! Your host will also be accompanying you on these visits.

Most importantly, before the trial is over, please place your character's vote over on the voting page. Voting will close at 9pm EST/6pm PST, and will serve as our activity check for the week, so please be sure you get your vote in before it ends unless you have contacted us previously.

[It looks like it was a longer, thicker blade. It's deep enough to cause him to bleed out and sever an artery, basically.]

[Time to check out those slash marks in his clothes, then! Are there other stab wounds beyond them, or just lighter cuts?]

[There are other stab wounds among the lighter cuts. They're not as deep as the throat wound, but enough to cause some heavier bleeding. The marks look more like he was swiped at at a longer range.]

[Do they match the size of the blade that caused the wound on his neck?]

[It's hard to tell given the way they were cut. It looks more like the cut in his throat was when he was standing still but the others are more jagged as if he was in motion.]

[Hm.

She takes a closer look around the cuts, now. How severe are the burns on his clothing? Are they just on his clothes, or does he have any burns on his body, too?]

[The burns on his clothes aren't too terrible, just enough to make them smokey and crisp in some places. His hands are a little burned, and his mouth is a little burned as well, but not enough to be entirely damaging.]

[Once she's done checking that, she's looking more closely over his face, arms and hands to see if there's anything else noticeable.]

[Well, as she does that she'll find the clothing in tatters and also something smudged on one of his arms, almost like a brand of some kind? It's hard to tell what it is since it's mostly hidden by his clothes. Other than the minor burns on his hands though, there isn't a lot to look for. His face doesn't seem to have taken much damage except for a light swipe to his cheek.]

[Can she push up his sleeve to get a clearer picture of what the brand might be, or does she have to take it off entirely?

Before she does, she takes a closer look at his face. Does the swipe on his cheek also look like it was made by a blade?]

[She can probably push it up and wipe away some ash to see that it's small but imprinted. The brand says: calculative.

The swipe looks like it was made with a blade! But one that barely grazed his face.]

[Nifty.

If she turns him over, will she see anything else?]

[Just the sad demise of a twink. So no, he seems to be fine. Most of the damage comes from the various stabs and cuts, and the minor burns in places.]
